On one of my side teeth (about three over from front right tooth) I have what feels like a small hole or gap, where tooth meets gum on the outside touching the inner lip. It doesn't bother me, but if I push on the "gap" area with my nail I have that zinging sensation, like nerve or whatever. Is it possible for this to be a cavity? I take great care of my teeth and don't know what it could be.

Yes, it sounds like a cavity, you can get them on any part of your tooth. I had a cavity in the exact same spot, same thing as you describe, the dentist just used a white filling and fixed it. Sometimes no matter how well we take care of our teeth a cavity will happen so don't feel bad about it.

The dentist told me this is called a ridge. It is where plague has built up and formed a ridge right next to the gum and the gum has receded. It hurts like whiz. My dentist put a small filling in there for me so I would not get those awful shock feeling or sensation. Talk to ya dentist.

The gum has receeded back from the tooth, my dentist filled it for me and eliminated the zings when something touched it. It also looks better. Good luck.

Yes... i had one before and it amazed me that out of the hardest places to get a cavity i actually got one.

it sounds like a cavity. i had one in a spot like that. go to a dentist.

yeah they can now fill it out and use uv light to colour it same colour as the rest of ur teeth
