I had a root canal and it didn't work. I just went through this with another tooth on the opposite side and in the end, it still had to come out. I am using an herbal medicine to take the pain away so that I can still eat on that side while the other side is still healing. What happens if I choose to not remove this tooth? Will infection move into my blood stream after a while?

My husband has a lot of space between many of his teeth. Is irrigation of that area better than flossing? One of the hygenist suggested that the floss can't do what it's supposed to do because of the gaps.

After reading a bunch of answers to other dental questions I am noticing that a lot of them contain advice to use Listerine after brushing. Are there any clinical studies that show it has a benefit? If so, could someone post a link? I have never used it before, but will reconsider if it good for me.

okay, i'll admit, i chew gum a lot but this time i got caught chewing it in Mrs. Belks class, and I wasn't even chewing it! It was at the top of my mouth! She has XRay vision i bet..
anyways. She gave me a theme which is where you have to type half a page on why you will never chew gum again, and this is what i have so far.

Theme--Chewing Gum
There are many pros and cons to chewing gum. Chewing gum stimulates salivation, which helps neutralize the acid produced by bacteria, possibly, it can help mental concentration . Vigorous chewing uses up 11 calories an hour, which may help weight loss, fractionally. It can be a substitute for smoking – especially nicotine-containing gum – and it’s helpful in equalizing air pressure in the middle ear when flying.
Here’s the downside. Too much chewing wears the enamel on the teeth. Spearmint gum can stimulate stomach acid secretion, which may cause individual problems.

I need some more cons...helpp! thanks! ♥

I had a bad cold over the weekend, and I think I'm almost over it, but my voice is not all the way back and it's obvious that I've been sick recently. Am I going to offend my dental hygenist by going to my appointment tomorrow with any remaining cold symptoms? Should I call today and cancel?

In general, how sick is to sick to inflict yourself on a dentist or hygenist?

I have an impacted wisdom tooth trying to come in, and I have braces. If i dont get this tooth out, it will ruin my straight teeth thats taken 4 YEARS to accomplish. I have no insurance, because I recently got dropped off my moms policy. A lot of insurance companies ive called do not offer insurance right away, you have to wait a month or so before its "effective".
Does anybody know of a good company I can go through that i will not have to "wait" for.

Please help, i dont have a lot of time to wait, and my wisdom tooth is KILLING me.:(

Hello. This started happening about 4-5 days ago (Nov. 29th). My mouth, lips and especially my tongue started to become VERY dry. My tongue is very dry and it hurts. I've tried drinking different fluids throughout the day and using lip balm (it does help my lips, but does nothing for my tongue) What's wrong with me? My tongue is mostly dry from the tip of my tongue to the middle of my tongue, and only on the top of my tongue (the bottom of my tongue is still very wet and produces a lot of saliva).

Is there some way that my tongue has stopped making saliva? Please help. (I do not take any medications or prescriptions --- actually, I started using NODOZ caffeine pills because I havent been getting much sleep --- is this a side effect of NoDoz?) Thank you all very much for reading my question and I hope to get some informative answers!
