okay, i'll admit, i chew gum a lot but this time i got caught chewing it in Mrs. Belks class, and I wasn't even chewing it! It was at the top of my mouth! She has XRay vision i bet..
anyways. She gave me a theme which is where you have to type half a page on why you will never chew gum again, and this is what i have so far.

Theme--Chewing Gum
There are many pros and cons to chewing gum. Chewing gum stimulates salivation, which helps neutralize the acid produced by bacteria, possibly, it can help mental concentration . Vigorous chewing uses up 11 calories an hour, which may help weight loss, fractionally. It can be a substitute for smoking – especially nicotine-containing gum – and it’s helpful in equalizing air pressure in the middle ear when flying.
Here’s the downside. Too much chewing wears the enamel on the teeth. Spearmint gum can stimulate stomach acid secretion, which may cause individual problems.

I need some more cons...helpp! thanks! ♥

Ok here what some of my patients complaints about and these are the ones that used to chew gum alot:
Pain the cheek, this is due to over work the muscles .
Pain on the side of the head , the same above reason.
Headache ..
TMJ problems, this is due to over wrok the condyles in the TMJ which had before a problem which was never felt until The TMJ is over worked for a long time like chewing gum for a long long time.
As for the stomch over secret which can lead to future problems i never heared this yet.

In Europe they say people chewing gum look like cows chewing grass, and just as dumb! Chewing may be acceptable to teens, but to adults it looks dumb, and is considered rude and childish.

Apparently Ms Belk has a rule about not chewing in her class. So perhaps as part of this essay you should discuss WHY you felt you could get away with it. It's not as if the flavor was going to last through the entire class period. Which brings me to another downside to gum. Once the flavor's gone, instead of disposing of it properly (you should have kept the wrapper to put the used gum in prior to throwing it away IN THE TRASH) we usually find it dropped on the sidewalk, the parking lot, benches, underside of desks, in fact anyplace the gum chewer happens to be when they take it from their mouths. The discarded gum gets on shoes and is tracked into homes and cars, to be ground into the carpets, thus ruining them. Same with baby stroller wheels. If mama has a toddler she can't take her eyes off them for fear they'll stoop down and pick up the discarded gum......shall I go on?
