I am a single mother of 2 children that is stuck on government insurance (which doesnt cover dental care) as I am putting myself through school & don't have any insurance & when I did they don't cover "pre-existing conditions." My teeth are so bad that I cant even sleep at night...I barely eat because it hurts too bad!!! Im barely scraping by & am in EXCRUCIATING pain with my teeth day after day. I had a consult done & they said that I have about $10K or more in damage! I have never done hard drugs in my life & i take good care of my teeth but they are so bad anyway...I don't know what to do but I am so tired of suffering in excruciating pain every day!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Today I got a root canal and a temporary crown for tooth #19. I have the choice of selecting Gold or PFM crown. I told my dentist I want it gold, but I am having second thoughts now. I have the chance to choose PFM until tomorrow.
When I smile you bearly notice tooth #19, but when I open my mouth you would certainly notice it because the crown will be in the lower jaw. Should I get a Gold or PFM crown for #19?
Also, I will have to put a crown in #14 and an onlay (dentist said gold is preferred) on #3. I was thinking on going for PFM for #19, Gold for #14, and gold for the onlay on #3.
I have read in the internet that PFM is more propense to break, and tears down the opposite tooth more than a gold crown. On the other hand I don't want to look like a pirate and have golden teeth throughout my mouth. I want to go for the benefits of the gold crown, but I am unsure on the look. I am 25 and the crown will be permanent.

Should I get all teeth in GOLD, all in PFM, or a mix of them?

I lost my retainer nearly a week ago and have had my braces off for nearly five months. I have a permanent retainer behind my top front teeth (only on the two buck ones, I hope you know what I'm talking about). My mom had the dentist put the permanent retainer behind my front teeth b/c she knew that I'd lose the removeable one or swallow it or something. Will my teeth still shift anyway? Before I had the braces on the only problem with my teeth was that there was a gap in between the top ones.

I've tried the mind over matter thing but got as far as the drill going into the mouth, people have said to listen to music and stuff but I really am scared of the drill and pain. where can I be knocked out to have work done on the nhs?

I have a tooth that has been filled since i was about 9.
Lately it has been giving me some problems and today i went to the dentist and i was told because of the roots he could not Pull it and that my options are either get a root canal or get it cut out.
I have heard so many bad stories about root canals and I'm a little worried about getting one, Would it be best to get a root canal or get the tooth cut out?
Thanks!

I've heard it is worse for adults to get braces. I got the clear ones on both the top and bottom yesterday. I find it's impossible to eat anything but Jell-O. My molars hurt so bad. My teeth are VERY crooked though, could that be why I'm in so much pain? I don't have any sores (yet).

Is there anyway to get your teeth capped (or veneers) but they don't look like caps or veneers? Like they still look like real teeth?

What is the diffrence between analog and digital dental xray equipment. How much more exposure to radiation will analog equipment cause. Are 18 xrays really necessary for a dental exam. It sure seams like a lot. How many xrays and how often could be considered the minimum to still provide good dental care. Thanks for your time.

I have been drinking 2% milk and my bones seem to be a little weak. I used to drink whole milk, but know I don't. I have heard that whole milk is for babies to develop strong bones, but is it also okay for young adults to keep drinking it?

I can't explain this problem very well so please bear with me. The left side of my mouth hurts. The area near my third molars is swollen and very painful if I bite down. This problem has been coming and going for 10 years, but this time it is a lot worse, or maybe I pay attention to it more.

I never knew I had third molars, but I guess I just didn't notice them. All I saw in that area was a crater, and I figured the pain was due to my tooth above that pushing down into the crater. This time I took the pointy dentist tool and poked into the crater and realized that deep down there is a tooth.

Using a magnified mirror, I can see a small gray flat tooth which almost looks like a third molar is just starting to grow. I think it's just permanently like this.

I don't have insurance and this problem is causing me a great amount of distress. I haven't been able to sleep for the past few days and have attributed it to the pain from this problem.

Thanks for your help
