Well.... you could put some ora jel on it. My neice got an infected tongue and they were talking major surgery. The tongue isn't really anything to mess around with. Maybe some ice? Call the people that pierced it. I hope it was sterile.

it depends. did you just get it done?
i have mine done and the inital week is brutal. if you just had it done and you're dealing with the swelling and pain there are a few things you can do. don't drink out of straws and avoid dairy or anything fizzy because it can burn. avoid eating spicy foods or anything too hot. i stuck mostly to semi formed jello, pudding and gatorades or icees. once the swelling goes down some you can do like cheese or other softer foods. don't play with it!
if you've had it for a while and had that pain kind of do the same thing. don't do anything to irritate it. make sure your tongue ring is sanitary and hopefully not some cheap metal. wash your mouth out with mouthwash a few times a day especially after eating. it will burn but it's just cleaning it out. take some advil or tylenol to reduce any swelling. if there is any pus or redness you should see a doc. you may not want to risk taking it out and the hole closing but it can cause serious problems if it's infected. the doctor may just give you an antibiotic if you can get someone more up with the times. good luck!

Not sure if this is a new piercing but if it is...
Some people who get their tongue pierced are fine after a couple of hours, others like you and me are not so lucky! I could not eat any solid foods for close to a week! Milkshakes and Advil were my best friend. Just make sure to keep it clean and try not to play with it too much. Good luck and just think about how great it will be once it is all healed up.

Take some ibuprofen (Advil) or other over-the-counter pain medicine and be sure and call your doctor tomorrow. You could have an infection in your tongue and need antibiotics to get rid of it.

Warm compresses, cold foods such as ice cream, orajel, or what works even better at numbing is something called Kanker. Its for canker sores at it numbs better than orajel.

It sounds like, you just got it pierced, you simply just get use to the pain, then you need to only drink liquids, orange juice perhaps, than you just have to drink ice water, to diminish the pain, Trust me, I had one, and planning to put it back in. Thanks, It does bring back memories of my pain. lol.
