Back in January I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, around that time I noticed that I was getting an overbite. I had braces and all that jazz when I was in jr high/high school and I am 21 now. The doctor I went to when I had my wisdom teeth out said that I would have to have surgery to correct the overbite. Ok so here is the question, recently I started a new job that requires me to speak a lot more than normal and I, and a few other close relatives, have noticed that I have started ti speak with a lisp and that the overbite has gotten larger. At this point in time I can put my pointer finger in the gap without moving my jaw at all. I do have a problem with grinding my teeth at night. I was just wondering if anyone has this happen to them and what had to happen to correct this. I cant speak like with my new job, and I need help. Since I just started this new job, my insurance hasn't kicked in yet, but as soon as it does I am going to the dentist. In the mean time, anyone have any advice. Thank you

My daughter has an abscessed tooth, she has no pain, but I can see the swelling and discharge. Her pediatric dentist (whom I respect) wants to do root canal. It seems extreme. Is this the only option. Do these things never go away on their own? It is a tooth close to the front.

I've been grinding my teeth for too long and definitely caused some damage. My teeth are worn and I've got some staining that I would like to get rid of (bleaching didn't work). What procedure(s) would be done, and how much would they cost? Would insurance cover any of it?

Hi, I have a dental abscess, and the dentist told me that I needed a root canal, I am using antibiotics now, so the abscess is not painful but there is a lump on my gum. Can I continue using antibiotics in cases of later pains, and wait three months so that I can visit my own dentist?

Instead of using toothpaste when I brush my teeth, I use listerine. I pour some into the cap and then dip the brush in, brush my teeth, dip again, ect...for about 2 minutes. I floss at night and I use a special flouride mix at night. I have bottom braces, if that helps. Does it really matter whether I use listerine instead of toothpaste? My teeth feel cleaner with listerine and that feeling lasts longer, plus I don't get bad breath.

A friend had tooth extraction on his lower left side of the jawline. It has been 10 days and he is still in a lot of pain. No infection, just swelling that comes and goes throughout the day. And every evening around 8pm or later he goes through pain all along the gums, front teeth, jawline etc. Nothing seems to help. Dentist has no answers for him. If there is a dentist out there that can offer a suggestion or someone who went through something similar we would love to hear from you.

My son's orthodontist just recently asked us to pay $1300 for a procedure done four years ago claiming that my wife's insurance company denied the claim because of a secondary insurance, which is mine. I'm not really sure if I do included my son, at that time, on my dental insurance beacause we cannot find any document to prove it, and I know that I don't cover them for most of the time. Do I have a chance to contest this and not pay the claim. Who should be liable for everything.

I got in a fight and had a tooth knocked loose. It wiggles slightly and was wondering if it has to be pulled out or if through time it would heal and be fine.

One of my bottom front teeth...it's the only tooth that has this sensitivity. Could it be a cavity? Or what?

Have a filling in it already but decay was too much. Now I have extreme pain in my forehead and that side of my face and neck and I've had this before which resulted in me having to get a root canal. In the meantime while I'm waiting for my appointment what can I take for the pain - it's excruciating!

I'm 14 years old. I floss and brush everyday. Also get teeth cleaned every 3 months. I have old plaque between my front teeth. I keep brushing and flossing, but it's not working. How do I get rid of it? Will it create cavities?

I had a bottom molar (#19) removed nine days ago. I'm not having any major pain, but the area is still quite tender. In addition, it looks/feels like the stitches have come away from one side. What's bothering me most is that the socket is filled with a white gelatinous matter. Is that normal healing? I plan to call the oral surgeon tomorrow, but was hoping to get some feedback in the meantime. Thanks!
