Dental - September 2006

I am in my mid 20's and I have braces!

I had them when I was 12 and now over a decade later I had to get them again.

Lucky for me though, I only have to wear them for 18 months.

It is so embarassing though, people have asked me if I am 16 and said I am too young to be married.

People think its weird for an adult to wear braces.

People stare at my mouth all of the time and I feel like people think adults are too old for braces!

I think adult with braces have courage!!!

What do you think about it?

how long should we brush are teeth for to get rid of plack sugar and food.
what else can we do to help provent dekay.
how often should we brush our teeth in a day.????????

I heard some people only get 2 or instead of all 4 but I don't have any. I'm almost 20 years old, there's no sign of anything coming in, and there's not really a space for them in my mouth. My teeth go all the way to the back. Is it possible that I'll never get them, and never have to deal with getting them pulled?

I want to know has anyone ever gotten a shot in the mouth and if so how did it feel. b.c i think i would rather be put to sleep instead.

I just recently had 6 extractions and was wondering if i really have to wait 72 hours after the surgery to smoke a cigerette?? Or if I do smoke a cigerette if it will give me a dry socket....or 6!!!

After Xray of my tooth, the doctor suggested a root canal treatmrnt. Friends tell me this a VERY painful proceedure, and that I should opt to remove the tooth. Generally I hate dental visits even at my age of 54!!

I had my braces removed in January and my ortho gradually decreased the time in my retainers. I have now been discharged but he told me to wear my retainers once or twice a week if i want to keep them straight. Do i have to wear them for the rest of my life?!

If i got a root canal done and still had pain on and off for three years and went back to the dentist saying oh its just infected and he gave me some pills the first year but then it started again on and off for two years and its because he missed part of the root should i be charged for it to be cut open again to remove what he missed ?

I am 25 and I have ectodermal dysplasia. its a condition where a person is born with mouth, skin and hair deformities. luckily I only have a problem with my teeth. Unfortunatly all of my teeth are baby teeth. yep thats right, I have no adult teeth. if I lose my teeth I dont grow permanant ones in thier place. the teeth I have right now are the same ones I had at age 2. does anyone know of any dentists who are looking to use somone as a guinea pig or practice for implants or other elective (but in my case very necesarry) procedures

I have no insurance So I went to the emrgency room to get some medicine and was perscribed penicillin now my jaw is swollen like crazy!!! Any dentists working for free these days!!! Can't hurt to ask. I guess

I'm thinking about getting sealents because i just had my third cavity filled, and it makes me mad that im getting cavities, because i take really good care of my teeth.

so what are the benifits of sealents, but im not completely sure of what they are. whats the difference between them and veneers?

will sealents help prevent cavities? is it worth it to get them? how do they put them on? my dentist said something about drilling... but i could have been mistaken.

I'm also getting novicaine. What medicine will I get (to calm me down)...the oral sedative??? I'm not going to be able to be put to sleep during this.....because he's just a dentist......not an oral surgeon.
