Are your gums bleeding?

Since you ruled out a change in medication and sice it sounds like this is a NEW taste, I suggest that you might have a cavity that needs attention. As others have said, bleeding can sometimes also give a metallic taste, but I've had more people complain about a metallic taste if they have a broken filling with new decay under it. I guess the metallic taste is actually tiny pieces of the filling.

I get that off and on. In fact I was just at the dentist the other day complaining about a metal taste. It comes from a large filling I have in the back tooth. Nothing to worry about. Try mints.
