Well, every extraction I had I was told that. After 4 wisdom teeth and 2 other extractions, which I smoked immediately following the extractions, I never got a dry socket or any other problem.

My wife got dry socket after having her wisdom teeth pulled. She waited longer than 72 hours to smoke and still got it. She said it was the worst pain she had ever felt here entire life, even more than child birth and we have 4 kids. She had them all natural no drugs no epidural and the biggest one was 9lb 13oz. Even then she still said dry socket is absolutely horrible. I'd wait if I were you. Heck you may even be able to quit and that would be even healthier.

If you cause sucking action in your mouth after the extractions you could litterally suck the blood clots out and swallow them. I am a smoker and a dental assistant. I recommend taking sedative meds for the first 2 days to help with the healing and fight the urge of smoking.

Yes, you can definitely develop a dry socket. It's not guaranteed, but I would recommend listening to your dental professional. Maybe you could use this as a chance to quit smoking?

I smoked less than 24 hours after but I had gauze over the extraction sites and took veeeeery soft drags off my cig. If you do risk it, just be careful, drysocket is no fun thing to deal with.

ABSOLUTELY!! That is why they tell you not to smoke or even suck on a straw. It is extremely painful take my word for it. Been there. Done that. Dont go there.
