I was seeing a dentist & had a bad feeling about him. It felt like I was in a used car dealership. I was getting the "Do this today & only today & save $100" talk. I was told I needed Peridontal Scaling $1080, had 3 cavities & needed 2 crowns. I did the initial exam & xrays which cost $200 & I also did the Peridontal Scaling because he told me I had early stages of gum disease. I was scared so I did it. I was getting ready to get the cavities filled & could not call him. I disliked him that much. So, I found a new dentist. I just got back from my appt. He did x-rays, a thorough exam of each tooth & even pictures. I have 1 cavity he said. Nothing else. He said everything is in good shape. Why would one dentist tell me I have 3 cavities & need 2 crowns & another say everything is great besides needed a single filling. Would you call the other dentist? or Better Business Bureau? or get a 3rd opinion? I am confused.

NATURAL teeth (not bad as they seem to think!) which aren't disgusting, just a normal colour for tooth enamel, or brilliant white tippex looking teeth that will more than likely crumble when you get older because of all the whitening procedures! Also I'd rather have my own teeth than porcelain veneers! What are your opinions?

the 1st answerer wrote that i was wrong. actually she's totally wrong. (i wanted to expand my response but it was already in voting.) i don't think it's fair for her to get best response for giving out really bad advice.

here's proof that aspirin does dissolve teeth:
1) a pharmacist who is an college professor told me about a man who put a whole aspirin on his tooth. he wanted to relieve the pain, but ended up dissolving his tooth!
2) this is what the american dental assoc says: http://www.ada.org/public/media/releases/0407_release01.asp

rubbing aspirin on gums generally is a bad idea. check out:

Do braces start working as soon as you get them on or do you have to wait till your first tightening appointment for them to start working!

Do they really work? Or do they just make your teeth brittle?

What else would you recommend?

I recently asked a question about wisdom tooth pain... anyway, when I got up this morning I called the doctor and they called me in a perscription for amoxil for me. Isn't it an antibiotic? How is this going to help my tooth ache?

I just went to a dentist a few weeks ago & I was miserable with him. I had the x-rays & the examination. I wanted my cavities filled.
He had zero personality so rather than go back, I just went to a new one today & scheduled an appt. for the morning. I explained that I have gone through & paid for the initial consultation with someone else. I will have to pay for another exam, but they are allowing me to bring my x-rays I have with me. Things is, I have no idea what this is going to cost me for 3 fillings. $100? $1000? I just don't know what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

I have yet to get my wisdom teeth removed because I am absolutely TERRIFIED of the dentist (have been since day 1) & I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. 3 out of my 4 wisdom teeth have already come in with no problem & I believe the 4th is trying but there's a possibility my gums are infected right there.
Is there anything I can put on my gums to help with the infection & to help my tooth cut through easier?
I've been taking an antibiotic for the past couple days just in case there is an infection but the possible cutting through is painful!
Also, if I finally got some guts to go in & get them removed is it possible, while I'm knocked out, to get cavities filled too?
I just wanna get everything over & done with in one sweep if possible! I'm pretty sure I probably have a few cavities because I have a really small mouth & can't really get to the back to floss very well. If anyone knows the answer to either or both of my questions then PLEASE HELP ME.....
