I just went to a dentist a few weeks ago & I was miserable with him. I had the x-rays & the examination. I wanted my cavities filled.
He had zero personality so rather than go back, I just went to a new one today & scheduled an appt. for the morning. I explained that I have gone through & paid for the initial consultation with someone else. I will have to pay for another exam, but they are allowing me to bring my x-rays I have with me. Things is, I have no idea what this is going to cost me for 3 fillings. $100? $1000? I just don't know what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

Without insurance I'd guess about $250-300. Some offices give you a small (5-10%) discount if you aren't insured. Good luck... hope the new dentist is nicer!

Just because your teeth look normal to you does not mean that there aren't, or weren't cavities there. Most cavities cannot be seen with the naked eye. As with the majority of cavities that are between teeth, the top part of the tooth has decayed as well and also needs to be filled. Especially if the cavities were on both sides of the teeth. these are called mesial, occlusal, distal fillings and all three surfaces need to be filled. As far as the contact points being to tight, have him/her adjust this so that you can floss. if you doubt the word of this dentist, get a second opinion. EDIT: in response to Gellar, cavities between teeth is actually the MOST common kind. Who ever told you that you can't get them there was either crazy or just plain stupid. Food gets caught between your teeth and if a person does not floss every single night, or if they drink a lot of juices and sodas, then they will have cavities between the teeth.

About $100 per filling. I have had teeth recently filled, and the cost was $100-125 per filling.

Chow!!

Anywhere from $300 on up. I would say $600 max. Depends on size of filling, where you live, what your dentist charges

you should look into those dental insurance where you pay a minimal fee for each thing that they do in the dental office..
you can search the internet for individual dental insurance.. it only covers part of the cost.. but it's much better. I got one "goldenwest" but I don't know if it covers your state.. but office visits are fee. filling is like 30 each.. otherwise you'll end up paying an arm and a leg! good luck.

Depending on where you live, expect it to run $300.00 with the exam.
