I have yet to get my wisdom teeth removed because I am absolutely TERRIFIED of the dentist (have been since day 1) & I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. 3 out of my 4 wisdom teeth have already come in with no problem & I believe the 4th is trying but there's a possibility my gums are infected right there.
Is there anything I can put on my gums to help with the infection & to help my tooth cut through easier?
I've been taking an antibiotic for the past couple days just in case there is an infection but the possible cutting through is painful!
Also, if I finally got some guts to go in & get them removed is it possible, while I'm knocked out, to get cavities filled too?
I just wanna get everything over & done with in one sweep if possible! I'm pretty sure I probably have a few cavities because I have a really small mouth & can't really get to the back to floss very well. If anyone knows the answer to either or both of my questions then PLEASE HELP ME.....

Try to find a dentist who does sedation. It is always difficult to clean wisdom teeth. The food and bacteria getting trapped under the tissue around a wisdom tooth can cause a serious dental infection that, if left untreated, can be life threatening. Now, that is worst case senario, and I have only seen it once, but it is true. Now days steps can be taken to avoid post operative swelling and pain. We do wisdom teeth extractions all the time and I take precaustions before and after to cut down on any post op problems. Every dentist is different, so I am not going to tell you what to tell your dentist to do , he probably has his own way of doing things, and that is fine. I am sure it will go well. The main thing is to keep the sites very clean afterwards. Use a plastic syringe, the dentist should give you one, to irrigate the sites out over the next 4-5 days after the surgery. There is no reason he can not do other restorative work at the same visit. We usually do any restorative work at the beginning of the appointment, to avoid blood contaiminating the other areas where we are doing fillings and such.

Good Luck!!!

You would be knocked out so there is no pain from having it removed. And it's not bad when you wake up. They give you drugs. LOL

You would have to find another dentist who uses general or twilight sleep to fill your cavities. Oral surgeons don't do that. It's very common. Look in the phone book for dentists that advertise pain-and-worry-free dentistry.

you need to get the wisdom teeth pulled...or at least go to the dentist and see what they say about them...you may not even need to have them removed.

i had mine out when i was 17...it wasnt a big deal...they put you to sleep...you wake up and theyre out. youre sore...but not in horrible pain...plus they give you some nice drugs to take...

i dont know if they can take care of cavities at the same time...thats another thing u would have to discuss w/ your doctor...usually the dentist isnt the one that takes care of the wisdom teeth...unless your dentist is also an oral surgeon.

I'm sure that can be arranged, ask your dentist. I'm getting out my wisdom tooth on 10-6 and I'm terrified too!

Best luck!

Do what I do... find a dentist who uses nitrous oxide (gas). You'll be fine then. Trust me. Awesome stuff.
