Do braces start working as soon as you get them on or do you have to wait till your first tightening appointment for them to start working!

I am an Orthodontist and probably can answer your question. The braces do not move your teeth. It is the wire which is placed in the braces slot which does the job. The wire will start moving the teeth, it is engaged all the way into the bracket. If you look at your braces closely, there are 4 wings and a slot in between. If the wire does not deflect from the slot and seats all the way in, there will be significant changes in your teeth. I prefer figure 8 my ties to make sure the wire is seated all the way in. Braces start working immediately. I am amazed at how fast my teeth started moving.

They start working immedietly, i saw results as early as a week after they were on, but that first week in particular is the most painful of them all, but once you get past it then you'll be ok!

ya they start working but even after theryre off u have to wear ur retainer which is a good idea because i didnt and i have to get braces again

yes it start working imediately, when the first time i had my braces it worked on one week.

it needs at least 6 hours for any force to affect your teeth and move them.
