Its very puffed out. Is this normal or should the selling have went down?

This is normal. Some people have the swelling continue for a few more days. Just make sure you do as your dentist tells you for the next few days until you have fully healed. You don't want to irritate and hurt your gums and possibly have them swell more. You wouldn't want to get an infection, either.

Not a professional but have had wisdom teeth pulled. I had a substantial amount of swelling after the extractions also. I had to gargle with warm salt water many time per day and use I packs. The gargling worked wonders! For medication, I was given vicoden and was also allowed to take Motrin along with it (if necessary)! My swelling did go down after a few days but the best thing about it was that I had no more pain from my wisdom teeth. I also did ask this question to the oral surgeon for the same reasons and he responded that it was very normal after have my teeth extracted. Hang in there and if you are still worried you can always call the oral surgeon back and they will tell you exactly what you need to do if anything!

It is normal....been there not to long ago myself....The first 6-8 hours after the extraction are typically the worst, but are manageable with ice packs in a cycle of 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. After the first 24 hours, it is advisable to rinse with warm saltwater every two hours to promote healing and start taking non-prescription pain medication like Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Stay away from smoking, drinking thru a straw...that can cause dry socket...and that is painful and very annoying. You should also plan to see your dentist approximately one week later to ensure everything is healing well. Good luck with that and hope you feel better soon.

It's quite normal, I have big cheeks to begin with, and I had all four removed at once, leaving me looking like quite the chipmunk for a few days.

It will go away in a matter of days, it's normal for the immune system to kick into high gear when you've had bone removed from your jaw...

Hang in there! You've survived the most painful dental procedure that I personally have ever experienced, and I've had my jaw broken and reset!

On the swelling, if you are inquiring about this about 2 weeks too soon. Yes, most people swell up and there may be bruising. The swelling goes down in about 2 weeks and it may take longer for the bruising to go away.

Several years ago I had my wisdom teeth taken out. It was nearly a week before my face was back to normal. However, if you are really concerned, you might call the dentist/doctor who did the procedure and ask about it.

try putting a warm wash cloth on the side of your face and then it should help with the swelling
