Last July I had the bottom of my navel pierced. Initially the piercing was healing fine. (I was cleaning with anti-bacterial soap and spraying sea salt on it about 3 times a day) I was a cheerleader for my college so in September my coach told me I could only have the piercing in if I switched the barbell to a clear, plastic one. I knew I wasn't supposed to change the piercing for at least 6 months but after I noticed I had no problem changing it the first couple of times, I foolishly kept switching it. Eventually when I went to change it, it would bleed a lot and I would have trouble getting the jewelry back in. I developed raw scar tissue that seemed to "ooze out" from my piercing. It was quite painful and I went to a professional piercer to find out what was going on. He said it was just irritated, not infected and he urged me not to change my piercing any more. Soon after, I quit the cheerleading team for various reasons and stopped changing the piercing. (continued below)
