I came back from dinner hours ago, and I just went to the bathroom to take out my tampon (if i had one) before bed. The thing is, I couldnt find the string. I can't remember if I actually put one in after dinner, since this has never happened before. Its the heavy kind too, so I'm not sure if it could even get lost. Any thoughts?

I'm about to be crude for a minute, so forgive me in advance.

I tried the two fingered method, I wasnt sure how far to go, but I couldnt feel anything. Means I was a dummy and just forgot?

Weird I have had two children and can still feel a tampon up there when it is in there. Put your fingers up there and grab it and take it out. If you don't find one, it can't go anywhere. You probably didn't put on in then. Your cervix stops it going anywhere so have a feel around. Strings often break - it wont hurt you unless you don't take it out.

I've had that happen before. You have to reach in there and try and feel around for the string. It can't get "lost" cause it's a narrow canal that doesn't go that deep.
Just feel for the string. If your period is heavy it will eventually start to push itself out.

Good Luck

Um whoever it was that said:
Go to the hospital, oh this is horrible, it isn't that big of a deal. Don't worry you probably didn't out one in. That happened to my mom before, and my sister's friend, they went to the movies or something (not my mom and my sister and her friend, my sister and her friend) and she went to change her tampon after they got back, and all of a sudden "AH!" she found it though. Even if you did put one in, it's not like it went anywhere!

It cannot get lost because the inside is not long enough. Anyways sounds gross but take your index finger and thumb and see if you can get it out if there even is one. You probably don't have one in, Good luck!

I don't know. It's dangerous to keep them in for to long. If there is no string, it's very unlikely that you did keep one in. But i wouldn't just jump to that conclusion. Test the other tampons to see if the string comes off. If so, don't use them.

1) if it is NOT there, you would notice some "spotting"

2) if it IS there, you'll need to go fishing with the 2 fingered approach.
