ive been going thru an especially bad bout of depression and last night i kept thinking about cutting myself, but i didnt b/c i dont like blood...then today i took a safety pin and ran it over my arms so that it left red scratches.....is this cutting? or do you have to break the skin for it to be considered cutting?

My boyfriend recently injured his knees by overexerting them during a bike marathon he didn't train well enough for. He has been taking glucosamine with Chondroitin and msm, doing some different leg stretches, and icing his knees (20 mins at a time) when they hurt. He has stopped bike riding for the most part, but is very active and plays soccer once a week, and participates in the occasional football game. He knows its better to rest, but there is really no way to stop him from continuing these activities (his choice, not mine). Does anyone else have any tips for knee pain or helping his knees heal faster? Preferably to people that deal with this particular issue.

Opponents to HFCS say that it is the reason why America is experiencing such a problem with obesity and diabetes. Supports of HFCS, like the United States Corn Refiners Association argue that other countries in the world who's people consume HFCS as well don't have problems with obesity and diabetes.
1) Is this true?
2) Does that mean HFCS isn't bad in any way?
3) If it is debatable whether HFSC is good or bad, why do opponents of it speak so strongly about their views? Might there be a political motive behind this debate on both sides? If so, what is each side's real motive?

okay i am 14 years old and i want to lose about 8 lbs and mainly just tone up for the summer
i mainly want to thin out my thighs and work on getting a flat stomach
how can i achieve this?
my mom wont let me join a gym or fitness center jsut yet becuase she says im going to jus tgo there and play, which im not i really want to do this
so what can i do?
is there certain excercises you would reccomend
and if i do get to join whcich machines would target the areas i want?

I'm 18 years old, 5'0'', 87 pounds and everyone tells me I need to eat. The problem is that I do eat, sometimes I stuff myself to the point where I almost throw up. No one is convinced that I eat, and some even think I'm anorexic. I've tried eating but it's not getting me anywhere. Sometimes eating actually makes me lose weight, is that normal?? I'm even on the Depo Provera birth control shot to make me gain, and that's not helping either. Since I've been on the shot I've lost 5 pounds. My parents say with age my metabolism will slow down.

I am having knee surgery in a few weeks. i dislocated my knee about 2 years ago and it is still messed up. they are cutting the tissue off the outside of my kneecap because it is too tight and is pulling my kneecap onto its side, and then they are cutting the tissure and muscle off the inside edge of my kneecap and reattatching it farther in because it is too loose. I have never had surgery before, and i was just wondering what to expect. has anyone ever had a similar surgery done? what was the recovery time? how bad did it hurt?
i might add that i am a very serious ballet dancer, dancing for about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, so my knees are quite strong for my age. (i'm 15.)

My boyfriend is 19 and he uses dipping tobacco not chewing. He also smokes quite often. I am trying to get him to stop, but so far nothing works. Anyone have some good ideas? Also, a friend told me he can give me gum disease. Is that true... can kissing him harm me in anyway?

I'm a still growing(guy) teen and I think it's in my genes but my thighs and *** seem bigger than normal. It's not that I'm fat 9I'm the complete opposite) I'm 6' and have a 30" waist and blky upper body. I buy clothes in bigger sizes because I'm embarassed to let it show. I kissed some jerk back in high school and I got my first cold sore in my mouth.
Now 2 years later, I get open sores in my nose, that hurt a lot, that last for weeks, and one summer I even had small red bumps all below my eyes. They looked just like smaller versions of the red bumps in my nose.
I do bite my nails, and I tend to touch my face a lot.
Could this be the work of my cold sore/Herpes virus spreading?
Anyone else have this problem?

I just discovered this mole. It has a ring that is brown/ red around it with the center almost the color of my normal skin. It is slightly raised but does not itch. I dont believe I have had it long. it is perfectly Symetric...any ideas on what it could be called? I looked up Halo Moles but they seem to have a white/light ring around- not this dark border. My mother is the big problem because she's too religious and way too illogical. My father is the polar opposite. I'm bisexual, but I get yelled at by one and ignored by the other. My imeddiate family doesn't really eccept me, but they love me (I think). I've been manic depressive for some time now and just need some words to help me think....I've asked a similar question before so I doubt anyone can give me anything new. I'm twenty-three bytheway.
