I'm wondering if an early morning surgery slot is better than a late afternoon one, versus any other time. Will the surgeon be too sleepy early in the a.m., or too tired late in the afternoon? Is late morning (2nd or 3rd slot?) any better, with the assumption that the surgeon is "into the groove" of the day's work? I know later slots run higher chance of delays. I'm just looking for some discussion or opinion. What do people out there think?

My daughter ate at McD's last week. She has ate there before, no problems. This time she broke out in hives and swelled up bad. She took Benadryl and it went away in a few days. But, she forgot about it and ate there again and the same thing happened! What do you think could have caused this? She has never had a problem with this before. She is 25.

I used to have the best body in high school and now I'm beginning to see that for the first time in my life, I HAVE TO EXERCISE to maintain it! Ugh, help me out! I've started cardio and light weights. I eat fairly healthy, but I'd like to hear what works for all of you.

I keep seeing these studies that find a gene for this or that problem behavior. It makes me wonder.... Is there any hope of getting out of destructive behavioral patterns if you tell people that it is genetic? Why must we keep shifting the blame? Can't we just deal with the fact that we all have problems and it builds character to overcome our problems?

It started with a cold and got raspy- then a few days later I couldn't be heard but it gradually came back, except that I never got my voice back completely --it is still raspy and I dont normally have a raspy voice. Two weeks without my normal voice isn't that odd? Any doctors out there?

My Dad is having surgery in on Thursday. He is having surgery, because of complications from the 1st one.The 7 fistulas were repaired, but they didn't staple him closed, instead it was an open flesh healing process.Imagine being cut from you anus to clear up half your testicles, I mean packing had to be done 10 times a day. After his surgery he was sent home, my mom,is not a nurse nor was she train in what to do at all. My mom is a strong woman, but the incision looked like micheal myers got a hold of my DAD.The nurse showed up 3 days later and she was even shocked at the surgery siteThat surgen told us that mom would only have to take care of my dad over the weekend, that turned into a month. My father is diebetic and has active Crohn's Disease. which makes his immune system very weak. What I really need to know is, if this were your dad, would you want the surgen to admit him at least for 24 hours? last time he ran a 104 fever w/uncontrolled bleeding,& no doctor to be found for 3 d

During my yearly physical, my doctor said that she thought my thyroid was full and ordered blood/lab work. I meant to ask her at the appointment what a full thyroid would indicate, but I forgot.

I have a high metabolism, great cholesterol rate and would say that I am in fairly good physical condition.

But here's my question(s) - What does the thyroid do and what would a "full thyroid" mean? I'm assuming that because she ordered tests, it must not be good. What are the raminifications and/or treatments if I do have a "full thyroid"?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm 32 and I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago. I sometimes have trouble controlling my temper and my emotions can sometimes be really intense. I read somewhere that it's not uncommon for adults with ADHD to sometimes have emotional lability, but I was wondering if anyone else here had the same problem.

I'm talking about just in general when you're sick or starting to get sick. It feels like every bone in your body is bruised but there hasn't been any physical stress. What causes this?

We all see the out of control kids and their parents squealing about them having attention deficit disorder and needing counselling. Or is it just bad behaviour caused by bad parents who can't control their kids and need a pseudo-medical term to make it sound like it's not their fault? Would badly behaved kids benefit from a smacked backside? Or do they need cossetting and counselling?

I am a very active & fit person & work out @ da gym for 2hrs 40 mins daily- 1 hr running 11.1k(with a 5 min cool down), 1 hr on the bike mchne (with a 5 min cool down) & 30 mins stretching & sit-ups to finish. About 1 wk & a half/2 wks ago I injured my leg (I think by running) but thought it was just a minor strain so carried on gritting my teeth & working out as usual (I also kick-box 2ce a wk). My kick boxing instructor advised me not to work out so harshly if I was in pain but thinking it was just a little strain I ignored his advice. Last night my leg was too painful & I had to admit defeat. I was advised to buy Ibuprofen gel (as oppose to the heatrub) which I have been using since last night and told to rest with no exercise. This has becom traumatic 4 me bein a fitness fanatic and I've been told if I HAVE to do anything to swim & POSSIBLY go on the bike. Da fitness instructor thinks I may hav torn a muscle & is doin a sports msg Fri. Advice on how I maintain fitness b4 I recover?
