I'm 32 and I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago. I sometimes have trouble controlling my temper and my emotions can sometimes be really intense. I read somewhere that it's not uncommon for adults with ADHD to sometimes have emotional lability, but I was wondering if anyone else here had the same problem.

I have a very big temper!! Loosing this or even giving it away at times can cause a lot of problems! It has caused problems!
Violence is not in my cards though. I have medical problems that limit my movement, good thing if you ask me!
Though when someone hits that button I can sure let the !##@!$ fly! I have the ADHD, the oldest son does and the youngest has the ADD. This of course I feel is no excuse.
Some of us are very passionate people. When we feel strong about something it takes a bulldozer to get us to change our minds. I personally can not handle people who do not use common sense as well. In the work force this can be a dilemma.
Emotions have to be controlled. Just has to be in public, and our home life. My man now just keeps his mouth shut and listens to me. Then when I have calmed down and got myself in check then he will say his piece.
People do not like hearing the truth or for people to be honest. This I am to a fault when it comes to someone who has ticked me off. Being politically correct is something I have worked on and am working on. This I am sure you understand!
There are people out here who have these problems. Do more reading and even go take a anger management class. We both know people like us are not going to do what we do not want to do. So go get the classes and reading done and start changing if you are out of control, if not the courts just might make you one day.
My 16 year old son is going through this now. I do not understand why he can not control his temper when he has been raised with me who has tried my best to help him. I would share with him what I have read and the techniques I have learned and practice myself. He will be in jail for several more years from loosing control of himself. Thank God he did not kill the other person, but he did take on a very big cop!
Get your temper under control, you may loose it and there is never a appropriate place.
Good luck!

I have a real problem with controlling my temper, but the doctors finally decided that mine wasn't ADHD, but Bi-Polar Disorder instead. Maybe you should get a second opinion and see if that's what your disgnosis should actually be. My doctor told me once upon a time, that a lot of times ADHD is just a misdiganosis of Bi-Polar disorder. I would definitely discuss the possibility with your doctor. Good luck.

I haven't really had much of a problem controlling my temper around anyone. Sometimes it's there, but mostly I just get really really hyper and i can't control how hyper I get without the proper medications.

ABSOLUTELY !!! I do not lose my mood such a lot anymore and if I do I blurt out forward of time that I have to get anything off my chest, then allow it rip. The pissed off side turns out to nonetheless be with me. Idiots thrive and so they appear to uncover me. I generally tend to prevent men and women as a rule however in many instances one slips via the cracks and annoys me after which I have to smack them upside the pinnacle. I recognize precisely your emotions while you say you believe like a monster. I effortlessly retreat to my room with my cats and the whole thing is going greater ! : ) Hang in there.
