Or a yeast infection? I am going to the doctors today for a cold, but i also think I might have some type of infection "down there" and was wondering if i bring it up, can they do anything about it?

Absolutely! Your family doctor treats people ranging from geriatrics to pediatrics. Some, not all, even deliver babies. However, I would recommend that you call the secretary and make sure that your doc has enough time to do a pelvic exam while you are in there. It's impolite, not to mention delays other people's appointments when you go in for one thing and then ask about another (or two, or three... :) ) This is why the wait can take so long in the waiting room. Don't be shy, and most importantly, ask questions, should any come up. You are paying him or her a bundle to see them, get your money's worth.

yes, but be honest with them about your history and any symptoms that you are having! Embarrassment would make me question whether or not to tell them, but I think my health would lead me to ask them immediately! Good luck!

yes they can take a swab and send it away for analyzing
