My daughter ate at McD's last week. She has ate there before, no problems. This time she broke out in hives and swelled up bad. She took Benadryl and it went away in a few days. But, she forgot about it and ate there again and the same thing happened! What do you think could have caused this? She has never had a problem with this before. She is 25.

We react to certain foods and objects as we age and mature. She may be just getting an allergy. You can have her checked or leave it go and stay away from McDonalds, try again at a later date, see what happens. If it did happen again then I would get her tested to see what it was. McDonalds hasn't been all that truthful with what it's been using in certain things like the oil was the latest, before that the fries, then it was the beef.

They've also had problems with the playroom and have been tearing them down, in certain cities they've found rotten food in the sandboxes, the ball pit had rotted food in it. Etc.More can be found on snopes.com or urbanlegends.com.

there is a possibility of developing an allergy later in life, the most likely suspects being dairy or peanuts. they may be frying their food in a different type of oil or adding a new ingredient to the food. either way, if she only notices this happens when she eats at mcdonalds, then she should avoid it entirely. its possible there is something in the ingredients that don't agree with her.
however if she begins noticing this when eating elsewhere or other types of foods, she needs to see an allergist for allergy testing (which is quite painless and leads to a lot of relief since you don't guess anymore). suggest that she keep a food diary for 2 weeks or so and record any odd feelings after eating. just keep in mind allergic reactions tend to get increasingly severe so its important she discovers whats behind it. i would suggest going in for an allergy test, its the easiest way. good luck

Get her to an allergist NOW! She needs to be carrying injectable epinephirine (Epi-Pen).

What did she eat? My first guess would be a milk allergy. There is milk in the fries and in the bread and in the nuggets. Could be eggs or wheat or really anything though.

She needs to find out the trigger ASAP as she had an anaphylatic reaction and they can be life threatening.
