It started with a cold and got raspy- then a few days later I couldn't be heard but it gradually came back, except that I never got my voice back completely --it is still raspy and I dont normally have a raspy voice. Two weeks without my normal voice isn't that odd? Any doctors out there?

My best friend loses her voice all the time when she gets sick, so I think it is kinda common.

I'm not a Dr... I do have a friend, though, who lost her voice and it was more than just the result of a cold... she had a problem with the muscles in her throat and had to NOT TALK for something like 6 weeks... and then be very careful. For her, it hurt when she talked. You should maybe see a Dr...

The mucus that was produced in your nose when you were sick has accumulated in your throat by dripping from the back of your nose, it's called post-nasal drip. Try taking a tablespoon or two of honey, or if mix it in tea. It helps soothe your throat and clears it up.

You might have a slight amount of scar tissue on the vocal cords, there very delicate and it wouldn't take much to upset them.
