Every month, since birth,we have taken our 3 year old son, 3 hours away, to a pediatric pulminologist. Our son has had severe asthma since birth. He currently is taking pulmicort ( inhaled steroid) twice each day, singulair ( For allergies- I think...), and switching between albuterol, flovent, and xopenex every four hours- day and night. He does not have cystic fibrosis, thank God! We have no animals, just in case his allergy tests were wrong. Why is he still struggling? He has been on oral steriods nearly every month, sometimes more, since birth. We have to call the paramedics to rush him to the hospital on a regular basis. There, he will receive oxygen, and they will give him intravenous steriods. Our handsome, sweet, sincere, innocent little boy is struggling to have a normal childhood. He cannot even run without an attack. Is this normal for asthmatics? Is there more we can do? My heart sinks to hear him wake me up at night, gasping for air, and begging for help. Please help.

I have checked all "calorie counter" sites and they're all speaking about "fried", "roasted", or "stewed" chicken, but nothing is said about calories in plain and simple "boiled" chicken or even beef meat. I always have my meat "boiled" (Just dipped in hot water till it's ready to be eaten). I don't add any extra oils or fats which are included in frying and stewing. So I wanna know how many calories would be there in boiled chicken for example and how does the type cooking affect the amount of calories in the raw form of the food?

We work in an AC environment where the temp is kept around 20 degrees. Before leaving for food we do not feel cold, whereas after comming back from food all start shivering and need warm cloths.

I started getting cystic acne at the tender age of 9. I'm not kidding.
I was the first kid in my class to get acne. Some of them didn't even know what is was. The first day of fourth grade, a kid came up to me and said "DUDE WHAT'S THAT CRAP ON YOUR FOREHEAD?!?" I just ignored him, but inside I was terribly scarred.

Now that I am 17, I had already experienced years of torture. Yes, I do have a dermatologist. I've tried over 3 dozen brands of acne products, and nothing works.

I am constantly moody, and I don't think I'll ever be able to get married with my sesame-seed sized scars and volcanic face.

Please...save me from myself! :(

I'm 19 with flat feet, and about a month and a half ago, I noticed that after about 25 minutes of walking, the middle of my feet start aching and does not go away until i sit down. This also causes my ankles to hurt as well. I've never had feet problems before? I'm thinking it might have something to do with the calf raise (aka toe raise) exercise? Because I started doing those a couple months ago. And, I'm far from overweight. Does anybody know what the problem could be and what should I do???

I'm thinking of this with reference to, say, a five-year old. All the doctors, magazines, books, etc, say if your child goes through a phase of eating only one food, you shouldn't force him. They say he'll get out of it in a matter of days. What if, however, a child has a list of about 4 or 5 foods he'll eat- and the mother allows it? And what if it goes not for days but years? What problems could it cause?

If it matters the foods in question are:
1. Spaghetti (noodles and sauce, no meat or veggies)
2. pizza (meat, cheese, and sauce, still no veggies)
3. peanut butter and jelly sandwich (occasionally)
4. grits
5. pepperoni and cheese on crackers

I see that this does cover many food groups but what vitamins might a kid miss by refusing a fuller diet? (He does drink juice incidentally, about a full 48 ounce bottle a day.) Is he in any nutritional danger? Is something he's missing the reason that he cannot get over a cold he's had for 3 months? Any thoughts, please.

This is quite a traumatic experience and I would appreciate hearing of yours. I was tied up ( the kind like a diaper with ties that go underneath the bed and you can't get up even for your need to go to the toilet). I went through this after an attack of epilepsy and for my protection the nurse said, I was tied for three everlasting days in that position because they thought I had tried to get up which was not the case. I sleep with my feet hanging at the end of the bed. And everyone knows how horrible that can be when you need to go and you have to hold it until someone comes and they don't... The result is extremely humiliating and some employees are not very nice in handling you. I wouldn't wish that to happen to my worst ennemy!
Have you ever had to go through this ?
Thank you very much for sharing.
