Is this true? I know it carries many other health risks and I'm not smoking purely to lose weight. But does something in a cigarette (nicotine?) help to speed up the metabolism?

My 18 yr son went through a stressful, busy time in the Winter and Spring. He also had a stomach virus. He was either too busy or stressed or didn't feel well enough to eat. At this point his stomach is shrunk down and he doesn't have the urge to eat. If he does get hunger pangs he might eat a few bites and then feels like he can't eat anymore. He is only consuming 1000 cal a day at most and only if I put the food in front of him. Any suggestions?

I am a runner and I usually run 12-16 miles a week ( I want to eventually run 36 miles in a week) I was picking up apples in my backyard for an hour and my hams are stiff and sore. I tired jogging but it hurt a lot. I've stretched, too. What can I do to make them less sore so I can run? What other physical activies can I do to help me keep the edge?

Last night I crashed my bike into the sidewalk, and I sort of landed on my elbow, and when it hit the sidewalk, I heard a crunching sound. It hurts to move my arm from the elbow down, including my fingers. I didn't go to the hospital yet, because I didn't want to wait 3 hours for nothing, but I was wondering does it sound like it something could be broken, and if it is, will they put a cast on or what? Thanks in advance!

I have never used a tampon before and I do gymnastics and other sports and pads are way to uncomfortable for me. My mom has no clue about tampons, she has never worn tampons in her life and same with my sister, she said I could use tampons but my mom and sister decided they would stick with pads. No pun intended. I will be in the eigth grade and I have had my period for a while now. The instructions weren't very helpful. I want personal experience please...?

Last weekend I got a cut on the top of my finger right under my nuckle. It was a small nick with a pearing knife. Well I did what I thought I was supposed to do. I washed the cut and put a dab of neosporin on the cut and covered it with a bandaid and I've been doing that ever since. Well I noticed that these past few days it's been oozing and it itches a lot. Im still keeping it covered but this morning I decided not to put Neosporin on it to see if that was the cause of the oozing and itching.
Could a small cut like this turn into something horrible?
Should I be worried?

my auntie shared with me one diet secret -- that if you boiled the cauliflower and mashed it -- put some lite butter, a little salt and a little pepper -- it's like mashed potatoes. and it does taste (almost) like the real thing.

i grew up eating rice as a vital meal in our diet (im asian, that's why) and giving it up is really really tough for me. i'd rather give up sweets completely, than rice. that's why my auntie suggested this, and it worked. finally, i found something that i could eat instead of rice. however, i know cauliflower is a lot better than potatoes and rice, but cauliflower is also a carb -- do you think eating too much of this is bad? maybe in one meal, i could at about 2/3 to1/2 of a cauliflower (because they're mashed) and i add protein of course. it's just so good!

I live with my fiance in a 3 fam. house that his parents own(they live on the first fl) and last year my son got lead poisoning from the house. His level was 49 and he was 2years old. I never knew anything about lead poisoning and his parents never warned me about it. I didnt sue them and we stayed in a hotel for 3 months while they fixed our appartment. It just seems to me that she is more worried about getting sued than she is for my son. his parents fixed most of their appartment too but they just recently built a porch that is level with a window and the outside of the window still has lead paint and I keep telling them to cover it and they said why its our house & our enterance and I told her because my son wants to go on that porch with the other kids and its dangerous to all the kids here ..she just rolled her eyes. My son is always going to have prob from this.. Would you sue her if you were me? do you think their homeowners insurance covers this?
