I am a nurse and have assisted with this procedure as well as cared for patients after this type of procedure. You may have some soreness at the site of injection, possibly some redness, but by tomorrow you will be glad you did it. The chronic back pain will ease up and you will be able to move easier. Just remember not to overdo and also be sure to follow your doctor's postop advise.

When I got a cortizone shot in my shoulder, three days later the pain moved down about 6 inches. A week later the pain was right back where it originated and the whole thing was worthless.
I know some people who get cortizone shots 4 times a year and they can't live without it.
Unfortunately they can't live with it for long, either.
I don't think it's real good for you.

Hopefully in about 48 hours your pain will be less. Unfortunately, the inflamation will probably return. I had to have two series of steroid injections in my lower back before they finally did a spinal fusion surgery. I now have four plates inbetween my lower vertebrae that are attached to two rods on either side of my spine that are attached by screws to my pelvis. They also had to take a bit of bone from my pelvis and plant it in between the vertebrae so they bone would fuse.

After three years, I have far less pain, but I do have nerves that fire on and off down my legs. When the back goes, it's awful. You are in my prayers.

It should feel better. Then you'll have to get another one, it will go on, & on, until the doctor wants to cut on you. The doctor just want to keep you on drugs. Try back strengthening excercises. You look like you are out of shape to begin with, by your picture, & it's your body telling you something!
