Lately over the psat few months my fingers, especially my thumbs keep swelling up overnight and the next day they hurt when i try to bend them and i cannot bend them fully. Its mainly my thumbs and the finger next to my thumb and its usually only on my right hand. Why is this happening, should i see a doctor?

I have similar problems to the one you mention and my GP has not been able to fully give a cause or advice on managing this pain/swelling.

I am diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and ME since 2000. My GP considers this may be part of my stress related illness with many other related symptoms.

I find some gentle massage or reflexology is beneficial to help alleviate the problem which is ongoing using essential oil.

I agree with Bob ^ ... you've gotten the best advice there is...go see your doctor. Bloating & swollen fingers could be nothing more than too much salt in your diet or it could be a sign of kidney, liver or heart disease. The most puzzling part is that it's just your right hand. Sometimes carpal tunnel syndrome can cause swelling, perhaps you're "overworking" your right hand at work or with a hobby. Set your mind at ease & ask a physician!

Good luck!

You have received good answers and the best one is to go see your doctor. Swollen fingers can also be an indication of heart disease. Before you get to anxious go to your doctor and find out what is wrong. More than likely it's nothing serious but find out.

See a doctor. There is often a circulation problem involved when hands and feed start swelling like you describe.

Yes, please go see a doctor, and change your diet too. You may be eating too much of the wrong things for you.
