You shouldnt keep the band aid on it. It needs to be aired out to heal the itching is probably it trying to heal I would stop wearing the band aid you really only need to wear it while its bleeding and when your messing with something you dont want to get in the cut. I wouldnt worry about the oozing so much it could just be the plasma not not being able to clot due to so much moisture and no air. Unless the knife was dirty or was being used to cut something that could cause an infection I think you will be fine. Just take the band aid off and let it dry out.

the oozing and itching is actually you're finger healing itself. it's a good sign, especially the itching. people have a tendecy to overreact about cuts but the human body is incredibly good at repaiting itself. just give it two weeks and that cut will be gone. wear a band-aid simply to keep germs out.

Let the wound air a bit, and if your bandaid gets soaked through get a new one. If you're seeing redness around the cut, you may have an infection.

It's becauses of where it is as the knuckle bends the cut will reopen letting dirt in also creases are dirt magnets. They often take the longest to heal because of this.

after showering or bathing, try leaving it open without a bandaid.. you can still dab a little antibiotic on it, but let it breathe a little..if it still gets worse, you better see the Doc for stronger antibiotics
