I can't ever talk to people, a lot of times I'll even get scared to just say hi, but then I also feel like I want to talk to someone, but I can't. Alot of times I made up conversations with someone in my head, and sometimes I even have a pretend conversation with characters from TV shows I like, but in real life I can't talk to anyone at all. Does anyone else do that?

I don't have a whole lot of friends, but last night I managed to get almost all of them to come with their boy/girlfriends and we had a pretty good time, but it was a "sit-down" party, where everyone gathers in chairs and has clever conversations. Being slightly hungover today didn't help, but I've been depressed all day despite the usual remedies like going to the gym and punching my corkboard wall. I managed to break the skin on my knuckles but I still feel awful. I've come to a realization that I'm probably never going to have enough friends to fill my entire house with a "standing room-only" type party. That wouldn't bother me so much if I had a girlfriend, or at least some form of dependable sex/companionship. I was reading an advice thing on how to make a better internet personal ad today and one of the suggestions was to put up photos with you and your friends (especially female friends) having a great time, and that just sent me into a further down spiral. My dad is 84 (god bless him) and is in a hospital in another state. I plan to get there within the next week. He is in "good" health, but had a few concerns, and checked himself in for testing. The results aren't back yet-but some Dr.'s assistant diagnosed him with a fatal condition based purely on observation. He scared the hell out of dad; and has him depressed. I am no doctor, and he "might" have this dreaded illness. Should not he get the test results first?? I'm really angry. Would you be?

Sometimes at night...I fall asleep and then wake up in the middle of the night and I open my eyes and I see myself and everything around me, the only thing that is wrong is that I cannot move whatsoever...the only thing i can move are my eyes, to look around of course..It gets scary so what i do is try to move as much as I can and I eventually can, but I find myself breathing really hard and my heart is beating fast. What can this be...??? Could it be tied to lucid dreaming? What is it that I am experiencing??? HELP!!!

My husband has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). We never know what is going to trigger an episode. By epsode I mean abdominal cramps, and some heinous diarrhea. It hits within moments of eating. If he eats something one night and has no episode, we never know if two weeks later eating the exact same thing will send his system into fits of IBS. So there are no foods that we know to avoid. Heck, eating some nutter-butter crackers set him off tonight! Some evenings we can't even leave the house because a toilet has to be nearby.
It seems to be a mystery condition. His General Practitioner gave him some medicine to 'stop colon spasms', thinking that would help, but it has done nothing beneficial at all. I'm thinking we need to take him to a Gastrointerologist. But from what I've heard, there is just no cure.

Does anyone else out there have this, or lives with someone who has it. If so, what on earth can be done? It is miserable.

Shouldn't it be your chioce/ it's not like we're living in a perfect world. Hurricanes, missill launches, idiot and rediculous presidents, hatred, bigotry, violence, massive unemployment, loniness, despair... life sucks. My life sucks. Being gay and alone and hated sucks. Actually, being gay is great, but the pain and rejection my go through through. Is it really a big deal? Am I crazy? If not suicide, what about just starting over?
