Any sinus meds might work, but I doubt it since the fluid is not a natural fluid and isn't a byproduct of swollen mucous membranes. Put a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol into the affected ear and lie down with that ear on a towel. The alcohol helps the fluid to drain out. Then, use warm compresses for about 24 -48 hours. This should clear up the swimmers ear. Use your favorite pain killer ( Advil or Tylenol ) for any pain. On the plane, chew some bubble gum to help equalize the pressure.
Good luck

this may help some I'm not a doctor so you can take this home remedy or leave it. 1. take a piece of 100% cotton ball and put a few drops(3) of olive oil (blessed would be nice). Place in each ear for about 5hours or longer, then take out and blow dry them with a blow-dryer on warm setting chewing gum while you do that process will may open the ear to drain. take a dry cloth and dab your ears so if there is water drainage you can be drying them if that does not help you may need to seek a higher level of medical attention and what ever you do don't push any thing down the ear drum also shake your ears when drying it helps make the water drain as well. if you see any bleeding ac-cure please call 911. this should not happen but if they are so ad that they are bad like that please don't hesitate to call it is better than to damage your ears. Good luck and my prayers will be with you to heal your ears.

You should contact your doctor for the proper antibiotic eardrops. Swimmers ear is a lot more painful than a typical ear infection and, after 24 hours on an antibiotic, you will be feeling much better and not have any problems during your flight.

Swimmers ear is a fungal infection of your outer ear canal. It will not cause problems.
Inner ear blockages can cause painful pressure, but having nasal congestion or having a sense of 'hearing underwater' or muffled is an indicator of an inner ear blockage.

your going to be really sick if you don't get that swelling down in the ear for the water to drain and take that plane ride. So sick you may not be able to enjoy your trip. I would postpone for a few days til I was better if I were you.

Go to RiteAid and pick up some Swim-Ear. I'm a swimmer, and those are the only things that work for me!
