Just found out our guest coming over does not eat meat so I need something that is fairly easy and does not take too long...pasta would be perfect but just boring pasta? I need something good. Thanks everyone.

Say a vegitarian, whether just not a meat eater, some combination of ovo or lactate vegitarian, or vegan, I don't think it really matters, bites into a hotdog or something, finds out it's not tofu after eating and swollowing 2 bites (hypothetical, since you'd think they could tell the difference after 1), and stops eating. What do they do? Cry? Purge? Feel guilty? Prey? And what about vegans who eat an orio only to find out later while meticulously pouring over the ingredients list that one of the ingredients is animal fat?

I'm just curious about how people put into practice a belief that's both utterly absurd yet completely natural (and probably a little quixotic).

I am sure this has been asked numerous times, but I haven't been around for awhile so I shall ask again! What is some good bulk vegan candy to pass out for Halloween treats!? I know dum dums is an option, but we havent had much luck finding others? What did my other fellow vegans buy for trick or treaters?

Hi, my name is Ricky, I am 19 and almost 20. I come from a family where diabetes is rampant along with several digestive problems including colon cancer. I am dealing with obesity, being nearly 440 lbs the last time I checked. I will get to the point, I have always had very good health throught my life but that obviously isnt a guarantee for the future. One of the major changes im undertaking is my diet, I live in a mexican oriented house. And although mexican food is really good it's not always a good choice health wise. I was reading a few articles based on vegetarian life-style and one form of it caught my attention which was the semi-vegetarian type. Im deciding to change my eating habits because of the health risks not necesarilly because of the "animal abuse". i just want to cut off red meat. are there any sites or books that can help me with this transition, or tips rod advice on making it happen?

I hate tofu. Even in my miso soup, which I love. I hate the tofu. I pick it out and I don't pick anything out of my food normally. So I want to know, what am I missing that is good about tofu, and where can I get tasty tofu, or a great tofu recipe?

meat with a substitute that is "meat resemblance". My example is the person who said that that at Thanksgiving they have a tufturkey and such as this. Are you still craving meat and you need a substitute? If you are vegan does this make you wonder about your beliefs (even if you are following strictly?) ?

I am not trying to be mean. I really am curious. And for all ofthe regulars you all know that I am not a vegetarian, but a human who tries to be conscious by avoiding companies that do exploit animals. However, I am not ready to make the full plunge. My problem in the last few days is that if I mention that I am still an omnivoe that I get a million thumbs down no matter how good my answer is. That bothers me a little bit. Then I see how people want to replicate meat and I just have to wonder about it.

Then again it may because I had a wee little too much time at happy hour, and like aphone, a key board should not be in front of me!

eat animals that don't "feel" pain.

Animals such as clams, oysters and scallops can NOT feel pain. In order to feel pain an animal has to have a brain to process the sensation. If they don't have a brain they can't "feel" pain. Clams, oysters and scallops don't have brains.

So, if a vegetarian who doesn't eat animals because they don't wish to cause them pain won't eat these bivalves, what would the reason be?

I have been a vegetarian all my life and have recently felt forced into eating meat, by constant pressure from my friends and some family members. Everyone seems to see vegetarianism in a negative light, why? What's wrong with not eating meat? My dad keeps saying that I don't get a balanced diet, because I don't eat red meat which contains iron. What should I do, I'm confused?

I've been a vegetarian for the past 3 weeks (still eat animal byproducts ie cheese, milk) anyways...i was supposed to start my period last Friday. It's been a week, and nothing else has changed. I know some people say stress, etc. But i'm never late, if i am it's only a day or two, never been a week. So i'm starting to get worried that i'm knocked up :( I've NEVER given up meat before so i don't know if that's the reason, or if it's happened to any of you before???

I'm curious because I have a recipe that calls for yogurt, but I don't eat dairy. And I've read a lot of anti-soy articles, so eating soy makes me nervous now....
Is their maybe a rice yogurt?
