I've been a vegetarian for the past 3 weeks (still eat animal byproducts ie cheese, milk) anyways...i was supposed to start my period last Friday. It's been a week, and nothing else has changed. I know some people say stress, etc. But i'm never late, if i am it's only a day or two, never been a week. So i'm starting to get worried that i'm knocked up :( I've NEVER given up meat before so i don't know if that's the reason, or if it's happened to any of you before???

Give it a fortnight or so, your body chemistry TOTALLY changes when you become a vegetarian. I can be 5 days early or 10 days late !!! Don't worry , I'm sure you will be fine. Also when I relax more, I find my period comes along - stress only delays it further . xx

Have you ever been late before? I gave up all artificial foods and started a radical exercise program and my period was almost 3 weeks late. If you don't start in a week get a pregnancy test. Stress makes it way worse, too. A friend of mine who went vegan had the same thing happen. Every body is different, so you never know, but I wouldn't worry seriously until I was about 2 weeks late and the tests don't cost that much. Are you having unprotected sex? there's not enough info. I'd say changing your diet is enough to cause major changes in your body. make sure you get enough iron - it's important for your period.

I didn't have this problem when I went vegan--I mean, I've been as many as four days late before, usually because of stress, but never a week. You might want to do a pregnancy test if there's the possibility you're knocked up. If you're underweight or have been exercising excessively, that could also screw with your period.

I can't say that it's happened to me, but I'm not a vegetarian. One cause of a late or missed period would be a change in eating habits. It may be that your body needs to adjust to you becoming a vegetarian or maybe you're not eating enough. You should see a doctor and get their recommendations.

My periods stayed the same after I switched over to a vegan diet. If you are late though it could mean that you aren't getting enough iron, your blood is thinning and you may be anaemic. I'd like to stress that a balanced vegeterian diet doesn't make you anaemic if you do it right. Iron rich foods include dried fruits, whole grains (including wholemeal bread), nuts, green leafy vegetables, seeds and pulses so try and eat more of these. If your periods are still late then go to the doctor.

Hasn't happened to me...
And I really don;t think this happens to people because of a vegetarian diet. I've heard of anorexic girls stopping menstruation. I think you should take a preggers test.

Never had it happen to me. You're either detoxing (which I doubt since you still eat dairy/eggs,) you're not eating enough, or you're knocked up.

Maybe you need to take a pregnancy test first, then from there go talk with your doctor...
