I'm curious because I have a recipe that calls for yogurt, but I don't eat dairy. And I've read a lot of anti-soy articles, so eating soy makes me nervous now....
Is their maybe a rice yogurt?

yogurt, by definition, is a dairy product. can't get it any other way, then it wouldn't be yogurt. sorry ;-)

Oh, if it's in a recipe, you could exchange vegan mayo for yogurt perhaps.

But hey, don't worry about all those anti soy articles. I have also read a LOT, and every single one I've traced back to... guess where... that's right, the dairy industry. The last one I tracked back through the author then the publisher to a company that owned an anti-soy website to the owner of that company which was a dairy company in New Zealand which was the dairy council in NZ. Pathetic. The funny thing is that many dairy companies also produce soy milks, soy yogurts, and so forth yet they are still pumping out the anti-soy propaganda -- what is their game plan? Are they stupid, or genius?

Oh, yeah, almost forgot -- it's just a BEAN.

A lot of the anti-soy articles are written by anti-vegan organizations, such as Weston T. Price. Soy, in moderation, is quite good for you. I probably eat more than I should, but I'm fairly healthy. I've never seen rice milk or nut milk yogurt. Unless you're allergic to soy, a small amount won't hurt you.

I've seen rice yogurt at the store before. It has a big panda bear on the label. I've never bought it before; it could still have soy in it. Might be worth looking in to, though.

I bet there has to be a rice alternative, but it might not have the same reaction in the recipie. Yogurt has certain bodily acids from the cow.

What is it that you are making? You might be able to do with out the yogurt all together.
