Vegetarian & Vegan - October 2006

Most tablets from the doctors aren't vegetarian or vegan? After speaking to the vegetarian soceity about this they aren't trying to do anything about this because they don't want to take on the drug companies! As a vegetarian myself I was shocked that they don't appear to be that bothered. What do you think?

does anyone have any good vegetarian sandwich recipes that don't require cooking? tired of bread, butter, cheese. can't eat raw vegetables and greens so anything without them would be great.

Yes some meat-eaters are rude. I have personally experienced rudeness from meat-eaters. I've had people who I thought were friends snub me over a difference of opinion. That doesn't mean all are. Yes some vegetarians/vegans are rude. They make mean comments. That does not give you a right to be a jerk back. Saying meat-eaters are murderers or veg*ns are malnurished hippies only points to your own character not others.

One of my children is severely allergic and we are slowly transitioning to a diet of vegies. With Thanksgiving so close at hand I am interested in knowing what to include in this meal that would normally have alot of animal fat etc... in it. Any help is appreciated. He is 11 and we want to support him by making the changes with him.

I was thinking about what it would be like to become a vegetarian, and was wondering what had protien but was not meat? (I don't like beans, and peanut butter and peanuts are too high in fat). What else is there? thanks

For one thing, I read that raw soybeans contain a substance that prevents absorption of soy protein. Also, if you buy a lot of them you might starve to death because they taste too nasty to eat.

why are meat eaters attacking veggies and vegans on here???
what is the problem???
seems a bit bizzare to get so wound up about people diet choice!
i don't eat meat i rarely touch dairy that is my choice it makes me feel good!
i think the veggie diet is the best and ther is no need for humans to eat meat but thats what i think.
so whats the problem?

i am a strict vegitarian i have 2 children. my eldest daugter who is 10 is not veggie when i had her i thought i would let her decide when she is older. she is aware where meat comes from and what happens to the animal.
my son is a year and the only reason he is not veggie is cuz i didd'nt think it fair to have one child eat what they like and the other restricted. my belifs are so much stronger now than they were 10 years ago. i would love oth my children to adopt a vegitarian diet, but it will have to be their choice.
who else is veggie and have meat eating children?
was i right in letting my children choose?

Everyone I know is telling me not to be vegan because i will be sick. does any long-term vegans have any food plans they constantly follow that keep them from getting sick? make sure that you include any extra vitamins or supplements you take.
