You MUST get a book,get the best one money can buy,but BEWARE,there are allot of look a likes,there are more poisonous mushrooms than not,some will make you sick but there are many that will kill you.If you must pick mushrooms get familiar with deer mushrooms ,hen and chicks,, oyster,and grass mushrooms or morels (morels do have a look a like )BE CAREFUL,if you can start with some one who is experienced in this area

Did you buy it at the store or market? Most likely it is real. If you are talking about drugs, then they should also look like mushrooms. It is hard to fake the look of a mushroom. Long or short stem with an umbrella like top. Simple.

You mean mushroom picking, and how to tell which are inedible (though they are still real!)
Try getting a mushroom book, or better still go with someone who knows about them, as some of the wild mushrooms are really poisonous.

i wouldn't recommend picking wild mushrooms, even with a picture guide it still may hard to distinquish real mushrooms from poisionous ones. Safety!

Don't think fake ones still exist. Only the really high grade which has medicine value called Lingzhi or ganoderma and the normal ones for food. There are 2 thousand over types, only 10% are edible. The common ones are cheap to produce, don't need to fake it.
