I'm planning on baking Russian Tea Cakes, but there's this one thing I'm going nuts over. On its list of ingredients, it says,
-3/4 cup very finely chopped pecans (2 1/2 oz)

Is it referring to raw nuts? or roasted? Simmered, poached, boiled??? D: ?

I had steak for my dinner last night.....I fried it with some onions and then smothered them in peppercorn sauce and it was fab. Got another bit of steak and can't decide what to do with it.... Thinking either the same again or cut it into strips and fry with onion and yellow pepper and some marinade and then add noodles. What do people think? Or any other ideas. Needs to be reasonably simple and using things that I already have in my kitchen. Oh and nothing with mushrooms!!

I'm having shrimp cocktail for Christmas eve along with other goodies. I have hi blood pressure and cannot have the horseradish in the sauce. Is there something else that I can make my sauce with? I'm also having melted butter on the side.

My wife bought a Spider-man character tin last night. Baked a cake in it and let it cool overnight in the refrigerator.

Now we can't remove the cake!

Before she poured the batter she greased the bottom and then sprinkled it with flour.

Any tips?

I love to cook, but my old, cheap pots and pans are on their way out. I'd love to replace them, but can't afford to spend a fortune. Any suggestions? Also, I hate the non-stick surface on mine... it's become scratched over time. Should I avoid non-stick? Thanks!

Why do people refer to the cooking of onions as"sweating them down". I find it a really bad choice of word to associate with food.
Television chefs are very guilty of this.
What other words are used to describe the cooking of onions other than bcooking?

I bought some buttermilk to make my girlfriend some homemade pancakes. Now we are going on vacation. The buttermilk will expire before we return. I don’t want to waste it. What is a good thing I can make for her, before we go? I’m not helpless in the kitchen, like the man stereotype.

I bought some chicken around mid-September. They're frozen breast pieces. Then my hubby got put in the hospital and life got a little crazy for a while so I never cooked it. But it's been frozen the whole time. So...is it safe to make now? Or should I toss it and buy some new stuff?

I lost my job Friday. FIRED!
Before this happened I promised my wife that we could have Christmas dinner at our place and we invited her entire family over. They all said, "Yes."
We've never people over before... EVER!
We've already bought the ham and turkey. Cancelling the dinner is out of the question. So now I have to have a nice dinner very inexpensively. I need some ideas to have a quality meal, easy to prepare and CHEAP!!

I can not tell anyone about my work situation. I made a few big mistakes and they fired me. I was wrong. The company I worked for (7 years) had no choice and had to let me go.

So, please help me with ideas for a great inexpensive meal. I want to create a nice memory for my wife, our kids and her family... Without embarrassing myself...
Please help me. Please.

I NEED CHOCOLATE!!!

I have been munching on Mud cake this week, and am starting to get really sick of it. But I tried making brownies, and they weren't chocolatey enough.

If you have any recipes, or tips to help me make heaps of chocolate treats, I would be so happy!! (So would my man and kids, if I feel like sharing!!! lol )
