These were always around where I grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. YOu'd see jars at fairs, in delis, etc. Here are a couple recipe links for you.

Cook them? Thought you just ate them from the jar.

scoop them up. put them in a bag. and leave them outside for the trashman.
