I have 4 guests coming for lunch and then to watch the rugby; 2 are then staying for dinner too. Any ideas what I should cook? I'm a fairly experienced and confident cook so would like to do something fairly challenging for dinner. I'd also like to do something interesting for lunch other than cold meats, salad, cheeses etc. Any ideas?

seems sad to have to write a comment or answer in querstion form but there seems no alternative after its closed and the answers are soo wrong. impurities in water or any liquid raise the temperature required to boil it and lower the temperature to freeze it. the reason is with the impurities more heat transfer is required to change its state, and thus more of whatever youre doing to cause this change ie more heat added to boil or more heat taken away to freeze. the "pan scarring is korekk. (correct in english), kasi (because) of the chemical reaction of the electrolyte (salt water) with the metal of the kettle basically erosion or corrosion of the metal by salt water, the hotter the more corrosion. aluminum is really bad for this as well as being thought to contribute to alzsheimers, but i put salt in the water before i boil lobster and havnt noticed any real problem with the kettle, but it does take longer to boil every time. it doesnt vary with location its a property of compounds

I'm posting such silly Q like this coz somebody in my Fave category is keep on using the OREO word! I told that "misunderstood" racist skunk that Oreo should stay in Foods category ..(the real Oreo cookies)
so here it goes. I hope he's satisfied being an Oreo minded. LOL!
Now... Do you like an Oreo? (--,)

I used good quality ground beef and browned it with onions, garlic, red and green bell peppers and spices (ground chipotle, seasoned salt, cumin, chili powder and fresh ground pepper).

In the pot, I added 1 chopped, fresh tomato, 1 can of tomato paste, 2 cans of red beans and some cocoa. I added the meat, stirred and simmered for 2 hours.

It smells awesome, and it is flavorful and hot but something is missing.

Any ideas? No recipes, please, the dish is cooling off now.
