Butter and salt. (You need a thin coating of fat so the salt will stick, and what tastier fat is there than butter?) Any other seasoning just detracts from the fresh and subtle taste of a magnificent fresh fresh fresh ear of corn.
I never boil it ... I roast my corn right in the husk in a very hot oven (if I used a grill I'm sure I could do it that way too), and did I mention that it had to be fresh?! It's best when picked straight from the field the day you serve it. Although if you must keep it for a day or two then husk it and bathe it in cold water laced with just a few drops of household bleach.
I've also buried the corn (husk on of course) in a fire pit ... clambake style ... yum-oh.

I usually eat boiled corn and I tend to cook it for about 40-45 mins in express pan. I don't like sweet corn, so I use some other kinds, but they're lovely. When it's done I sprinkle it with some salt and that's it. It's good, it's healthy, and it's without all that unnecessary buttery fat.

Both are good, but grilled is my favorite! Then, when it's done, I put a little butter and Santa Maria Style Seasoning on it, it's a local thing on the central coast of California, the seasoning blend, that is. You can buy it online, or make your own. Just mix together the following in any amounts you like: salt, pepper, garlic powder, finely chopped dried parsley, and sugar. This stuff also rocks when sprinkled over regular french fries. Give it a shot, you might enjoy it! The website where the blend is sold also offers recipes to use the seasoning, it can basically be used in any recipe that calls for salt and pepper. I use it on burgers and in my spaghetti sauce too!

Taken fresh out of the field, boiled, with real churned butter, no salt. I lived on a farm and that's what we did when my grandfather planted corn. That was good corn.

Grilled corn is the best. Try soaking in husk in ice water for several hours then wrap in foil without removing husk. Throw it on the grill, turn over after 25 min. Same on other side . Just add butter and salt . I love it this way
