my friend gave me some of her rice it had rice ,peas and plantains it was delicious does any 1 know what I 'M talking about?

I am horrible at trying to make cakes following regular recipes or online recipes- but i seem to do pretty well when i follow directions given to me by other people. Now all i need is an amazing recipe so that i can prove that i don't completley suck at cooking. It is for someone's birthday party tonight- and i know everyone expects me to show up with a store bought cake. So i need some help! And while your at it if you have any suggestions for frosting that would be wonderful too!

How can I convert my favorite cookie recipe to cookie bar recipe? More flour, less flour? I think there's a trick to it.
It's a basic oatmeal cookie recipe with some of the shortning being replaced by peanut butter.

I'm going to make a stuffed flouder dish which is pretty much flounder wrapped around a spinach/onion/garlic/parsley filling. Then it is drenched with a cheddar cheese white wine sauce. With some rice underneath the fish to soak up the extra sauce.

I want to make it elegant, but I'm not good with that!

Serve with white wine? Would rice and fish be enough?

Dad was diagnosed with diabetes and he's craving desserts. Would really appriciate convertions to homemade breads (banana, pumpkin, cranberry) I have my own recipes, but would like to be able to just substitute the sugar.

I am having collards and kale and was just curious to know how others season theirs.. I use smoked turkey or country ham or ham shank--onions,seasonings..and i have learned adding alittle leek is wonderful.
