If you do a lot of baking, get one. The beauty of this machine is that you toss the ingredients in and while it's doing the work, you can get to chopping or measuring or chasing the kids around or whatever. Mine is awesome. My sister and I have shared custody of the kitchenaid--Someday I will purchase my own so we don't have to share it.

I'd say get one, it's definately worth the money. It's dependable, it will last for years and years. I use mine all the time for bread and pizza dough, it does a terrific job of kneading. My husband uses it to make pasta and homemade sausage. You can even get an ice cream maker attachment for it now. I do wish that I had spent a little more and gotten the 5-quart one where the bowl raises and lowers instead of the 4 1/2-quart one where the Motor Head raises and lowers. It seems like it would be easier to use and gives you that larger bowl.

Yes, The longer you wait the less time you will have to enjoy it, If you want to make pasta then get the attachment. I think being good in the kitchen is a rarity these days .

It depends on what you think you'd use it for. I have one and I love it. I don't use it every day, every week or even every month, but two or three times a year, I make things that I would never even attempt if I didn't have one (complicated bread doughs, foods containing stiffly-whipped egg whites, and the like). And when it's time to make Christmas cookies, I can get it all done in a day or two instead of setting aside a whole week (and cursing under my breath the whole time). It depends on your budget and your personal priorities. But I wouldn't give mine up.

We have one and it is a godsend it makes baking easy, plus it is an easy clean up job you have to use so many dishes when you have to mix by yourself, and I know I would usually spill something while mixing, so it's a lifesaver, and since I do the dishes at my house the less the dishes the better
