I've always wanted to make my own, instead of buying those month old bags at the store. Please don't tell me to buy a bag instead. I know it's really cheap. But I want to make my own.

The sauce is canned, and looks a darker redish brown. It has a nice warmth to the taste, but not too hot.

I don't have any rocks to line a clambake hole with. Can lava rocks or ceramic briquettes be used? I'm not sure if either hold heat. I was thinking maybe charcoal but I figured the damp seaweed would put them out too quickly. Any ideas?
