according to the whole foods bulk pamphlet, for one cup dry brown rice, you add 2 cups of water. If the brown rice is short grain, it needs 2.5 cups water. Just because the ratio is right, it doesn't mean it will turn out perfect every time. YOu need to cook it also. I usually let it come to a boil, then put it on the lowest heat and cover it up and let it cook until it's pretty dry.

I use one cup of water to one cup of rice, boil water, add tablespoon of butter, salt to taste (little) add rice when the water boils, cover remove from burner, wait 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork & enjoy!
