Probably because it starts smoking at a lower temp.

I use olive oil for frying. Walmart sells an olive oil spray now. It's even better for frying and salads.....)(

Olive oil just burns and cross links after a certain temperature.
It can safely be used for sauteing and braising, but it would be a complete waste in deep frying - and the taste would suffer too.

It is all that I use. I like the flavor of the extra virgin and the higher temperatures that I can use with olive oil. It is even good on salad with vinegar. Also a shot of it before you go out drinking helps you from getting too drunk.

I use it for frying but not heavy frying. You can burn the flavor of the olive oil.

technically any oil isn't, but when frying food, it's best to cook with an oil that is low in saturated fat and trans fat, and high in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat.

it can be expensive. use a light oil. sunflower oil is good not much taste.
