To be used in Teflon fry pans. That way you are not suppose to be able to Scratch off the Teflon. Metal spatulas will scratch Teflon immediately.

So you can use plastic if you flip em quick! Else eat plastic. The other option may be the new line of Silicone spatuals! See the web site.

most plastic spatulas are used in dessert preparationsoff the heat where they wont melt.... for heated use, cooks use a silicon product, looks just like plastic but wont melt... they are excellent

I'm with Gruntlicker on that one.

Also, plastic doesn't heat up. When you go to touch a plastic spatula sitting on the base of a pan, it isn't hot. With any metal, it is.

Not all foods are prepared using heat. Plastic spats are useful in many other areas of cooking.

And when prepared correctly you can hardly taste the plastic in the food... LOL

thats funny. You know the plastic ones are meant to scrape bowls not to take things out of hot skillits

You don't do much cooking , do ya?
Any temperature that would melt your spatula would also burn your food before it was done cooking.

they are designed to use with pans that have a teflon coating (no stick pans) using a metal spatula on it will scratch it and ruin the pan.

Not if you get one that wont melt. Try Target. They go up to like 100C.

THEY WERE PUT OUT TO SAVE THE FINISH ON NON STICK COOKWARE...THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MFG. OF NON MELTING MATERIAL....BUT THE DOLLAR STORE VARIETY ALWAYS MELT.... THERES BETTER QUALITY NOW IN NON STICK AND THE SPARTULAS...TRY KITCHEN AID STUFF..

they make ones that don't melt . this way you can use them on your teflon pans without scratching them.
