Food & Drink - 19 November 2006

With the holiday season coming up fast, i'm wanting to send some baked goods through the mail to someone for the holidays. I've never sent any kind of food through the mail, so what i'm wondering is how should I package the stuff to keep it from spoiling and looking mangled by the time it arrives at it's destination? Any tips at all on shipping food would be very helpful!

my family has always made oyster pattys as one of the side dishes for thanksgiving dinner. Everyone has always loved them and it is a must to have them for my family. but i was just wondering since i am supposed to bring a side dish for a thanksgiving dinner i am attending and it is not with my family i was wondering if anyone else has ever had them as a thanksgiving side dish or is my family the only one. i dont want to bring a side no one has heard of for thankgiving if you know what i mean.

I've been cooking for years, so I feel silly asking this question. I guess what I want to know is, is rinsing broccoli, celery, bell peppers, etc under warm tap water before storing them in zip lock bags in the crisper sufficient? Or do I need to go all out and get the special vegetable wash and a scrubbing tool?
