We have 3 readings, gift offers, Eucharist, etc. I know one side is the ceremony itself and the other side is the participants in the ceremony, but in what order does everything go?

Me and my fiancé plan to get married in 2009. The other day she asked if I knew about pre nuptial agreements and whether we should have made before the big day.

So can some one explain to me in simple terms what exactly a pre nuptial agreement is and what are the advantages and dis advantages to having one.

I have been talking to several friends about this and I'm getting different perspectives.

Some say that the period of engagement is the time when you can decide whether you are prepared to get married.

Others say that the period of engagement is just the time to plan the wedding -- that you should already know that you want to get married.

What do you say? Are people frowned upon if they call off an engagement? Or is it very common because an engagement is just the time when you make the final decision anyway?

Should we get engaged if we aren't 100% sure? My boyfriend is 100% sure...but I am only about 80% sure. Either way, we wouldn't be getting married for a few years.

We are both very happy and love each other very much! everyone is saying that we need to set a wedding date and asking when the wedding is, we have talked about it and want to stay engaged for a couple of years and enjoy that and not rush into getting married (spread everything out a bit I suppose) and people seem to think its weird? is this not normal? are you supposed to set a date and then plan the wedding straight away? Any ideas?

We are not very close. I would like to get them a gift card from Target. How much would be an appropriate amount? I prefer to err on the side of generous.... but I'd rather know what the standard is? Thanks!

What type of food would you serve? Caribbean, Chinese, seafood, Mexican, turkey and dressing (it is in fall), stations of each of the above, something else?

It will be held on Halloween if that helps any.

Also, would tropical drinks be good to serve? Most of the guest list doesn't drink alcohol for various reasons but there are a few who do.

As some of you know, im having two, one for where i live now with my fiance's family , and one for my hometown (my family)

my maid of honor and my future mother in law keep calling me with details and asking me questions and stuff..they have each others numbers but keep calling me.

I told my maid of honor if money was an issue didn't have to do it as i don't really have to have one...well money is an issue and im afraid i have to shell out money for this and im worried about far more important things than gifts lol

i have to get my birth certificate, my passport (which will probably have to be expidited at this point, some money for my other vendors)
I have tiny little anxiety attacks at work, no one knows but me because I can feel it and im going insane :(

someone help me with some calming words

OK so I got Married Right before I turned 17. We had a little courthouse wedding and the only people who were there was the two witnesses. I am now 19 still with him and happily married. After 2 years ok so my thing now is I wish i could have a beautiful wedding to look back at with a big ceremony. Is it stupid to do a secound wedding after 3 years of marriage? How common is it?

I just got engaged this weekend, I'm sooo excited, and my fiance and I were talking about who we wanted to include in the wedding. He has 2 best friends from different times in his life who he is very close with, and I have 1 sister, who I always said would be my maid of honor, and 1 very close best friend who is like a sister to me. So, we were thinking about having them share the roles and we have 2 best men and 2 maids of honor.

I know it's our wedding and we can do anything we want, but I just wondered if anyone else has done this before or had a similar situation with close people in your life. How did you handle it?

Serious answers only please. Thanks

I purchased my dress from David's Bridal about 3 wks ago and they told me it will be in around 2/11/08 but it came in on 12/4/07, so I picked it up yesterday and it is gorgeous and perfect. I was told to make an appointment to see if I need any alterations but it seems all I will need is a little bit of a hem done to the dress once I have my shoes on. I know I have heard most of you on here with the horror stories with David's Bridal but my experience was a good one, so far.
My question today is does anyone know about David Bridals alterations and what were you experiences with alterations?

It's my crazy ex-friend update. So this is her shower story...
Make a long story short for everyone who hasn't been following this... Got married 1 in Vegas- having giant church wedding in white gown 6 months later (redo) . Demanding shower, demanding bacholourette party... Demanding lavish gifts and lots of attention. I kicked her out of my wedding because she was trying to ruin it and make herself center of attention. I am getting this information from a mutual friend who is still in her wedding.

She wanted to invite every female on the planet to her shower so it was like 60 people so they decided to throw two showers- and this is shower 1. The other shower is this following week.

1. They didn't make people RSVP - 10 showed.
2. NO Food- only cheese and crackers and a vegetable tray.
3. 10 people so they couldn’t play bingo or any games because it didn’t work.
4. Took 10 mins to open the gifts. (Most people bought her small things since she is already married)

On how to cover up a tattoo really well (temporarily) without looking tacky? This is for my wedding. It is a tattoo on my shoulder blade, and the dress is Justina Mccaffrey 'Jubilate'. Thanks.

I'm 18, the ring being used for the engagement is a "diamond aquamarine white 10K gold Ring" The one asking for marriage is 20. We've been together for about a year.

Were going to have a renewal of vows for our 10th wedding anniversary. Weve narrowed it down to a few places. I am considering leaving our children at home with a sitter while hubby and me go on a private get-away without the kids(weve never taken a honeymoon or spent a night away from them). He wants the kids to be in the ceremony. I'm not sure if I want the same thing that he does. I need some advice or suggestions as to what to do?

I've heard conflicting things about who can and who cannot be a bridesmaid. Apparently, only unmarried women can be? If this is true - would someone who is divorced be considered as a bridemaid? Do these silly rules apply for groomsmen as well?
