I paid 600.00 in mine and seriously my husband and I were watching tv we saw a lady with the same dress and she paid 5600.00 just because she was a celebrity or because it was california... i don't know what the deal was but it was the same dress- or it did look like it.
The importance of it is that you look beautiful and feel like the most beautiful bride on it ... not how much it costs... but if you are in a budget... don't looke at pricey dresses....
I would recommend...
Group USA and this place in NY but i don't remember the name right now.
If you need any help... =) I'm glad to help..
ps: i did go to david's bridal... didn't like how they treated me...and I ended up buying a dress there and then someone got married before me with the dress and i couldnt wear the dress anymore...they wouldnt give me my $ back and i had to end up buying all my bridesmaids dresses there...which was pretty but not exactly what i wanted...but overall I was extremely happy at my wedding.

Mine was only $200 (from J.Crew), but that was for a daytime and somewhat informal wedding. Dresses can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars (like mine), to several thousand dollars. I'd say the average wedding gown costs between $700-$1100.

$800-1000, at least at a local beautique, if there is not a sale, if there is a sale, then maybe $400. I got an amazing dress for $750 (Casablanca Bridal's 2005 Cinderella Dress). I was married in 2007, so the style was older, but the dress had never been worn--I fell in love with it.

Absolutely no idea what the average cost is, i don't know why people spend an absolute fortune on a dress they will only wear once!
I spent £250 on mine which i thought was plenty enough, I have worn it only once since (3 years ago) and probably never will wear it again!

UK answer.
It varies a lot! I'd guess the average was somewhere around £800 (although that is a slightly random guess). You can go down to about £200 at debenhams or Tiffanys. You can go up to £3k odd if you get it made to measure.

Well, you can find dresses anywhere from $99 to several thousand. I got mine at David's Bridal for $399, but they also had dresses that cost $1000.

There can be a huge gap from $50 to thousands. For the average income I would say around $500 or so.
