Firstly, white is NOT a symbol of virginity, that is yet another thing that religion has twisted to suit it's own end. White became popular after Queen Victoria wore white to her wedding, only the wealthy could afford to wear a white dress as it is not easy to keep that colour clean, so the dress would only be worn once and then discarded as it would be too dirty to wear again, so white is a status symbol, it has NOTHING to do with virginity. Secondly, it is only in our culture that brides wear white, think about it, in India most brides wear red. Thirdly it is more than appropriate for a women to wear white on her second wedding, there are certainly no laws that say she cannot wear white. People giving thumbs down for these answers need to get themselves out of the dark ages, it is certainly not any of the guests business whether a bride or groom is a virgin, and speculation on this based on the colour of a dress is quite frankly pathetic.

Yes, you can wear white. It was a simple matter of tradition before that a second marriage required off white. Today's rules is there are not too many rules. I sell jewlery for a living and also have worked bridal registeries and the main thing is to focus on making your special day your own! I have also witnessed second marriages where the bride wore white!

I'm sure someone will pop up here and give you the actual reason for wearing white...and it's not to symbolize purity. Wear what you want and if someone wants to criticize, f them.
Since no one else apparently knows the reason for white, here: The notion of the bride wearing white on her wedding day started in the Victorian era. The trend was started by Queen Victoria herself, who chose to wear a white gown at her wedding to her beloved Prince Albert on February 10, 1840. (Before that point, white was a color worn by the Royal Family during times of mourning.) Brides from well-to-do families started choosing to wear a white gown as a sign that they had the means to afford a dress to be worn for one occasion only.

I so much want to wear a formal wedding dress with long train and long veil with blusher for my 2nd wedding. One thing to consider is that today's 2nd wedding bride will be wearing a sleeveless or short sleeved formal wedding dress as opposed to the long sleeved dress of the older times, and that makes the dress different from the first wedding. The veil and blusher are always so romantic.

I think now a days you can pretty much wear what you want. I wore white and my daughter was my maid of honour...Also how many "pure" brides are there out there. If it is your dream dress and you love it then you will feel beautiful and you will look beautiful...no matter what you wear, wear it with confidence....congratulations and all the best

White wedding dresses do not traditionally mean pure/virginal - the veil does. It's a common misconception (which I didn't know about until reading it here!). Go with your dream dress and don't worry about it.

if this is your dream dress buy it and wear it with your head held high. when i married a second time i didn't want to wear white but i found this beautiful white dress with very lightly stitched silver roses on it. i got it and i wore it, i had most of my hair pulled up with little roses in it and nothing else. but again it's your wedding and you have it just the way you want it. who cares what others think as long as you're happy on one of the most important days of your life. best wishes to you and your family.

Don't worry about the "purity" thing...do you think most 1st time brides are virgins? Ha! Just think of it as you being pure of heart...I'll bet your heart feels more purely in love this 2nd time around, so you should celebrate it. Wear white and enjoy!
