Hey there mate! On this link - http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-themes/beach-themes/pirate-theme-wedding/ - the folks served "finger foods" - lots of kebabs and stuff like that. Carribbean yes.
And you HAVE to have RUM! You can't be a pirate without some rum - remember Cap'n Sparrow "why's the rum gone?"
You can have a punch for them that don't drink the demon rum, but I would have some rum & ale, mate.
Also, check the link above for info on pirate theme wedding cakes and cake toppers!
Ahoy & clear skies!

Wow. I don't see it listed anywhere in the question where she is saying she is serving authentic pirate food. Get real, people.
My first thought was Chinese, simply because Pirates 3 is set in the Far East. Can't go wrong with seafood, although be aware that some people don't like it. Mexican is good as well. Perhaps have something from that cuisine for your cocktail hour. Caribbean covers a wide range of cuisines including Mexican. You could even serve Indian foods. While I love turkey, I would probably skip it since it's rather close to Thanksgiving. That said, you could either do a huge buffet or have stations of each cuisine.
I also saw a recipe for tropical granitas that you could serve for dessert.
I would imagine any tropical drinks would be great. Most you can serve without any alcohol, especially the frozen ones. Horchata is always yummy.
Good luck! Your theme sounds like it'll be a blast.

OK.....clue us Americans in on this.... First you have a civil wedding with a dress, suit, invites, food, etc. THEN you have a church wedding too??? I'm not trying to sound flip....I'm just confused. I know the brits do things different than us who live in the U.S., but this seems like a lot of cost and duplication. Do you invite the same people to the civil ceremony and the church ceremony? Isn't a civil ceremony considered to BE a "wedding?" Here in the U.S., a civil ceremony simply means it IS a wedding, but one that is not inside of a church. BUT....I do love your idea. EDIT: Oh, OK. Thanks for the clarification. As others have said, I like your ideas, but I would not dictate to others what they should wear. Personally, I own 2 things that are white because I do not look good in white, so I would have to go out a buy something. Not great if you are environmentally minded. Just let them wear what they want. Sorry, but I do like the idea of renting chairs. It's not like you are purchasing these. They are being recycled. And a mat? I would have a hard time getting down and up. LOVE the idea of the guitar and singing. Pick wildflowers if they are available to you or take some from someone's garden. A 2-hour ceremony? That is super, super long. I have never heard of that (maybe a UK thing?)

If it is a pirate themed I would say any of those would do just fine. I would stay away from turkey though because thanksgiving is after that and turkey may not be such a big hit. Tropical drinks are a really good idea and if there are people who don't drink make sure there is a way to make a alcoholic and non alcoholic version of each. It sounds like a fun party you are planning there. Congrats.

Caribbean and Seafood would be fun.
Shrimp,Scallops and Calamari are some ideas for the seafood. As for Tropical Drinks there are alcohol and non alcohol versions of Pina Colada,Sex on the Beach, Salty Dog,Daiquries (flavored and non),Seabreeze, etc.
Snacks could be served in Treasure Chests such as Chocolate Coins,Gold Nuggets(bubblegum) or Goldfish(crackers) in fishing nets.
Pirate Ships as Centerpieces would also be fun.....
Congratulations!!!!

Hi. I would stick with Caribbean and Seafood for sure....not the others. Don't do turkey, dressing, etc. even though it's in the fall.
You could make a couple of "signature drinks" like strawberry margaritas or daiquiris. When I'm in Florida, I get a drink called "a hurricane"....mmmm...it's sooo good. Look up online what's in it.
Sounds fun!

Personally I would stick with the Caribbean and seafood type foods. There are a lot of "mocktails" out there that you could have, but when I think pirate I think of kegs of beer (or any drink dispensed out of a keg). You could serve hot wings only call them "Parrot wings". Have fun! I love themed weddings!

Check this site out.
I would serve a seafood buffet .
A light chowder
Cold shrimp with cocktail sauce and limes
A lime and garlic butter encrusted swordfish
Mixed seafood and veggie kabobs
Whipped potatoes served in martini glasses with choices of toppers.
A bright pasta and veggie salad.
Great rustic bread
If you want lobsters go right ahead.
Make sure you have any other choices for people who cannot eat seafood. You can ask on the invitations.
Have fun.

Carribean food would be good. Maybe you could do pina coladas and strawberry daquiris for the drinkers? I'm sure you could mix some various juices and make a punch for the non-alcoholic. With little umbrellas!

Caribbean. I'd go for the whole Port Royal thing.
Fruit punch for the guests who don't drink and those who want can have a jigger of rum in it!
