What is it?

I am having my wedding in this beautiful chapel, but im having a real hard time finding a reception site. All the ones that I have found are going to charge my $20.00 - $25.00 a head just for dinner…our guest list is about 65-75 people.

My question is:

Would it be ok to have my wedding reception in my backyard? I have a decent size backyard and I will have a ‘buffet’ style dinner.

Please tell me what you think? I know it’s a wedding and this sounds like another family bbq…but, I think this will be more comfortable for everyone and a lot cheaper for me and my fiancé. We just don’t have the thousands of dollars it take to have a nice catered reception.

Thanks for your input.

She asked me to be in the wedding in Feb. 2005. I bought the bridesmaid dress. The wedding was supposed to be July 2006 but got postponed. We have had some issues since, and now I think she doesn't want me in the wedding. Her cousin is my boyfriend, who was also supposed to be in the wedding. THe wedding is now July 2007 and I am not sure what to do. Should I have to pay for a dress that I am not going to wear because I have been UN-ASKED as a bridesmaid?

My fiance and I plan to marry civilly here in the USA and then have our Catholic/destination wedding ceremony in the Dominican Republic next year. Is this possible? I don't know if you have to just do the CAtholic and civil together? And also, we just moved in together (we got engaged 2 weeks ago) and have signed up for those pre-matrimonial classes the Church requires (6 month program). Is the priest going to look down on this? AH! Any advice is great... Oh and we have picked a date in August 2008...should we send out our Save-The-Date cards soon?

I've been looking at prices for catering a wedding and prices are very high to me. Is it cheaper to serve your food buffet-style at your reception? Are there any other money-saving alternatives?

Ok I am getting married in June and my colors are pink and brown. I want to find a dress that is a light pink color and tealength. NOTHING else will do.

I really really like this dress but I think that the color pink may be too dark. I also know that the computer doesn't show an accurate sample due to the lights and all that. I still just think it may be too dark.

I also like this dress but I don't know if I really want it to be my bridesmaid dresses.

I also like this one too (in Cosmopolitan) but I'm just not loving it either as my bridesmaid dress.

So basically I want opinions and by showing all of them to you I was hoping that maybe somebody could even find one that you think I might like for me. I also want something that my girls will be able to wear again. Thanks!

I bough a dress in a very cheap price it is very pretty but is dirty even though had a tag (so it was new) and has to be tailor a little bit, the tailor is going to be a little pricy but I can pay it, the problem is the cleaning part: the tag on the dress reads: No dry clean, spot clean only, so I would like to know if is ok to put on the washing machine on delicate cycle or do i need to go to a dry cleaners, i would like to do it myself because the cleaners are incredibly expensive. Any suggestions

I'm planning a bachelorette Party and I'm going to give each girl a Questioner and I need some questions to ask.. About anything marriage, men, sex, alcohol etc. Anything that will get a good laugh when the answers are read out loud and we guess who wrote the answer.

Will the flowers be brittle and break and will they add enough color and should I put other flowers with the lavender? If so what kind of flowers work well with dried lavender? Please send pics of any ideas using lavender.

Heres the scoop. I want my big sister to be in my wedding as my MOH- and she has graciously agreed to be that person (not like i expected anything else though- she is an awesome sister). Problem is that my sister has cerebral palsy and cant stand up for long periods of time. She hasnt mentioned anything about it being a problem, but i know if i ask her to stand for that long it would hurt her.

Would it be a tacky thing to have the bridal party up there with us until after the first prayer is read and then have them sit until the service is over? I want her to be a part of it so bad, and i am not sure how to accomodate her, or to make it seem obvious that there is a problem if she has to sit before others. What is your opinion? I know she would never ask me for special accomodations- thats why i just want to have them in place beforehand.

My mom is very set in what she wants to do. Only problem it's MY wedding. Now that were around about 9 weeks away from the event we have an added problem. The seating at the wedding/reception.

I'm having the reception & wedding all in one room, people are going to sit 6 to a table, even during the wedding. That's about the only decision my mom has liked actually. My husband & I will have a "sweetheart" table for just the two of us, our parents will each have the two front tables for 6. Problem is, my mother is throwing a hissy fit, wanting her own 2 person table for her & my dad. The groom's family are fine with a table of 6, considering he has a sister & such that also want to sit up front. My mother is saying if she doesn't get her own 2 person table she'll just "sit all the way in the back" due to not wanting to sit with some family members.

What's the best thing here? Give in & give them a 2 person table so they don't have to sit with other family? Or stay strong?

My co-worker's sister is getting married in a few months, and I just received my bridal shower invitation in the mail. Here's my dilemma: I just put in my two-week notice. A great job opportunity fell into my lap and I couldn't pass it up. I know that she invited me prior to putting in my notice, but now I'm not sure what I have to do. The people that I work with are like a second family, but I feel a little weird attending the shower, much less the wedding, since I will no longer work here. What should I do?

we are getting married next year & are planning to go on our honeymoon at the end of July beining of Aug for 14 days, we have different ideas of where & what we like to do.

As for my partner he would like to go to paris / orlando / germany etc, has he likes history & to have fun at the thame parks as well (belongs it's not to hot).

As for me just a nice relaxing holiday by a beach or a villa with your own pool but not to hot, don't mind exploring some history, like thame parks.

i am really strugging for ideas so any surguestion would be very greatful.

Are sit down dinners too....stuffy?

I'm totally torn between a sit down dinner & a buffet. We are having hors d'ourvres, then dinner. With the sit down dinner you have better food options (at least where I'm getting married, that's not a general statement). The buffet actually turns out being more expensive than the sit down meal as well.

I just don't want to give off a "this is formal, act like it" feeling & I want people to go away happy.

I'm open to opinions. Thanks in advance.
